Tear trough Juvederm filler using needle instead of cannula?

The delicate area near the eye has added risks since it is adjacent to the eye and other important structures. The most severe complications can occur in this area. A needle is necessary to get the best results, but should be performed by an experienced physician with the handling of tissue and anatomy in this region. An Oculoplastic Surgeon would be able to help you. Restylane is preferred over Juvederm under the eyes due to extra swelling Juvederm can cause and the increased risk of Tyndall Effect (blue hue to skin.)

I much prefer cannulas over needles for tear trough injections.  The risk of bruising and other side effects is lower with cannulas.  The skill of the injector is very important.  Also, most people prefer a filler such as Restylane under the eyes rather than Juvederm which can cause prolonged puffiness.Regards,Dr. Ort
