So I live in Texas and I am highly interested in having my forehead reduced. I do not like traveling by plane so I am hoping I can have the procedure done here but I cannot find a PS. I have heard that a forehead lift and a brow lift could do the same. I am young (23) so I would not be doing the forehead lift/brow lift for their said reasons. Just to reduce my forehead. Is this a good idea? Can't they all reduce my forehead? Thank you for your time and comments!
Answer: Forehead or brow lift or rejuvenation? It is confusing when wondering how to make the forehead and brows look their best. Can we just raise the brows? But not too much? Does the entire forehead need surgery? What about deep lines? Do the eyelids need 'lifting'? When is 'too old' or 'too young'? These are very challenging questions & each patient is unique. Some patients do need their brows/forehead surgically lifted. But others will do fine with just a 'Botox' lift, while others will see nice improvement with careful use of an injectable filler at the brows. Sometimes the eyelids and the brows need surgery. We believe in exploring the least invasive/least expensive/least risky options first. The goal is to help patients achieve an attractive balance between the lids & brows. A thorough consultation with an experienced and creative surgeon will be the 1st step to helping each patient find the best strategy for them.

Answer: Forehead Reduction Forehead reduction surgery or hair grafting transplant can both lower your hairline. It would be in your interest to have a consultation with a doctor and understand your risks and benefits of each surgery. It would not be fair to suggest one or the other option without an examination or understanding your specific goals. There are issues of scarring, shock hair loss, hairline shape, and many other factors that must be understood.

Answer: Forehead reduction vs forehead lift vs brow lift? The goal of a forehead lift is to lift and reshape your eyebrows. This can be performed in a way that can either raise or lower the hairline. The main goal of a forehead reduction, however, is to lower the hairline. The amount of browlift can also be tailored to the patient's needs. The surgeries differ in that the forehead reduction involves elevation of the scalp back toward the neck to maximize how much of the forehead can be reduced. This is not part of a typical forehead or browlift procedure. I hope this information is helpful for you.Stephen Weber MD, FACSDenver Facial Plastic Surgeon

Answer: 23 year old wants smaller forehead I am assuming that you are a female, as a male should not undergo a forehead advancement or any type of lift, especially at 23. There are two types of procedures for lowering a hairline. One, is a surgical excision of the upper forehead followed by the downward advancement of the hairline up to an inch from where it was prior to the surgery. To accomplish this, the entire scalp from the frontal hairline to the very back of the crown, is lifted up and pulled forward. When this is done by an experienced surgeon, the hairline can often be advanced about 2/3rd – 1 inch if there is enough looseness when this lifting process is done. This procedure is often complete in one surgical session; however, it may not address receded corners of the hairline if the corner recession is significant. A great advantage of this surgical approach is the immediate impact of the procedure on hairline location with healing usually complete in a week or so. Sometimes this procedure produces a scar in front of the hairline, and if this is this is the case, a hair transplant in front of the hairline can address the scar. If there is corner rounding or if you are a male, a hair transplant lowering surgery is better because of the risk of recession in men with genetic balding. Recession will reveal the scar from a hair line advancement surgery. The only disadvantage to this is that it takes 6-8 months to fully grow out. For men, a hair transplant is a better procedure because of the risk of hair loss is high and hairline recession will show the scar from a hairline advancement surgery. Although this does happen in women, it is less frequent The second type of hairline lower procedure is done through hair transplantation. The number of sessions varies by the thickness of the hair. For women with other than fine hair, they might do this in a single session. With finer hair, it often takes two sessions. The time to see the impact of a hairline lowering hair transplant procedure is 7-8 months and if a second session is required, it will take another 7-8 months to wait for full growth. See web-references below for four excellent sets of photos of this process on four women. When done properly, a transition zone is created that make the frontal leading edge of the hairline soft To find a PS in your area, look to the realself doctors and plastic surgeons in your area

Answer: Best Procedure to reduce forehead Since we do not have your photos, I can only recommend something in general. At your age, we don't expect ptosis of the brows except for congenital low-brow position, hence, direct brow lift or pretrichial brow lift will not be very helpful. If your concern is receding hairline, I would prefer lowering the hairline. If bossing of the forehead is the problem, then bone reduction will be the solution.
