I have mild ptosis 2mm on one eye which got worse when I had rhinoplasty a few months ago. Prior to surgery it was 1mm. Will eye exercises or wearing an eye patch help the muscle? I want Botox but I'm scared it may make my eye worse? Do I need surgery to fix the eyes or what can be done to balance out my eyes better. If I have surgery is there a risk my eyes will be uneven? I'm having revision on my nose and worried the eye will get worse

Answer: Eyelid Ptosis Eyelid ptosis can be corrected through either levator muscle type surgery or Muller's muscle shortening. The latter is extremely short procedure and there are no cuts on the outside of th eyelid. Your eyebrows seem high which most likely is related to the compensation, meaning you are recruiting your forehead muscles to keep the eyes open. It is possible that if you relax your eyebrows the ptosis will be worse. Regardless, this can be corrected as an outpatient procedure. Your eyelids are uneven now and part of the goal of the surgery is to make them more even. Yes, if you have Botox injected in your forehead the ptosis may appear worse since the compensation will be eliminated. Additionally, if Botox is injected too low by an inexperience injector it can get to the eyelid muscles and make the ptosis worse. Good Luck

Answer: Ptosis Thank you for sharing your concerns. You have mild ptosis which can be surgically corrected by an experienced Oculoplatic Surgeon. Rhinoplasty does not usually effect ptosis. See an eyelid expert in person for comprehensive evaluation and guidance. Good luck,
