Had breast reduction on Tuesday 1/16. Am now 3 days post op. Yesterday I noticed that the bottom half of my right Areola was bruised and blotchy looking. Saw my PS later that day and he assured me it was nothing to worry about, as this breast had considerably more tissue taken out and had to be lifted more. Im still worried- today it looks like the rest of the Areola is more gray as well. I go back for my post op next Tuesday, but the waiting is torture. Does this look like necrosis?

Answer: Areolar Bruising Hello,I understand your concern. It appears to be just superficial bruising and nothing too serious. You might have some very superficial skin come off, like a mild sunburn, but what's underneath is likely healthy. Apply a good layer of ointment such as neosporin to the area a few times daily and keep regular visits with your surgeon to make sure things are progressing in the right direction.Best,
