Sometimes it takes your skin awhile to settle in after being injected with hyaluronic-acid based dermal fillers. Bruising and swelling can last for about two weeks. Also, these fillers are hydrophilic, so they tend to look better with time as they absorb moisture and settle into your skin. You know you’re not imagining the improvement, because you’re getting so much back-up from your friends! Congratulations on a successful rejuvenation. Hi and thank you for your question! I am glad to hear that you are happy with the results, and I am sure you are not imagining things! As a matter of fact, your experience is very common in my patients and I always advise my patients to allow 2 weeks to pass following any filler treatments for the swelling and bruising (if any) to completely resolved and for the treatment results to settle in. The swelling is not always clearly visible but it can persist for some time and affect the look, but when it's gone within the two-week period, the treatment results will fully emerge and most patients will be positively surprised just like you! Voluma and Volbella tend to look even better over time since they absorb water and tend to even out.  I often find that two months later patients look even better than they did after their initial injections. There's a lot of data that shows that fillers can make you look years younger and the combination of fillers and Botox injections make the fillers last longer and patients rank more attractive than those doing fillers or Botox alone.  Patients also ranked higher on self esteem and economic status then their peers who where either using only Botox or nothing at all.  In short, you are right and this is real!  You look better and feel better after filler and/ or filler and Botox injections. Best from Boston,Dr. Onir
