How many syringes of Voluma do I need to get full cheeks? (Photo)

Question

Already had 4 syringes of voluma within 6 months Always get disappointed with the cheek volume with voluma . Next week having a follow up with my plastic surgeon to add more syringes on cheeks to achieve a whole cheek . Would 2 syringes of voluma in the mid face give me the good final result ? Or I should give up on voluma Nd switch o Radiesse ?

Hello,Thank you for your question and sharing your photos.As a general rule of thumb, most patients require 1 syringe of voluma per decade of age to replace lost volume. For example, a patient in his or her 40s would require 4 syringes in the mid face to start. This is just for replacing age related volume loss, not augmentation. For men, it's important to volumize the cheeks without feminizing the face.Each 1cc syringe is only 1/5 teaspoon so it is not a ton of volume. If you feel that you're not getting the volume you desire, a good alternative might be sculptra or fat grafting for more long lasting results. Consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon.Hope this helps!

We utilize a variety of injectable fillers, including Voluma. Most fillers come in predetermined volumes in syringes of 1 cc. (Radiesse contains a bit more at 1.5 cc). We want the best effect with the fewest number of syringes in order to save our patients money. So we are always evaluating volume versus cost. When enhancing cheek contours it is not unusual to use 1 syringe (1 cc) per cheek to achieve ideal improvement.

Thank you for sharing your question and photographs.  For most patients 2-3 syringes per cheek can achieve noticeable cheeks.  If HA fillers are not maintaining duration you may wish to consider either Radiesse, Bellafill, fat, or Sculptra as alternatives.  Hope this helps.

men need more long lasting fillers or i would suggest cheek implants which we place often and get great reuslts.  This will keep you elevated without the need long term for volume.  I suggest seeing an expert but guys that workout or have fast metabolisms dissolve HA fillers very quickly.  Best, Dr. Emer.

The number of syringes of Voluma needed to enhance cheek volume will depend on the amount of volume loss you have as well as your goals. Considering that one syringe is 1/5 of a teaspoon, it is not unusual to need 5 or 6 syringes for optimal correction. If you want something more long term you can consider adding some Sculptra. Make sure you are under the care of an experienced physician provider. Best wishes.
