I’m 3 days post injection of voluma tear trough filler. Is this a normal amount of swelling? My left eye has is noticeably puffy. Should I just wait it out? Or can anything help with the swelling?
Answer: Swelling Under Eyes After Filler (Juvederm, Belotero, Restylane) -- Hyaluronidase, ThermiSmooth, Venus Legacy, Exilis Ultra swelling can be extreme in some instances and last up to 2-3 weeks, if it doesnt go away you can try RF treatment like venus legacy or exilis ultra or consider reversal with hyaluronidase. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Tear Trough Filler I would recommend waiting 2 weeks to see if the swelling goes down. If the swelling continues after two weeks, you can dissolve the product with Hylenex. Best of luck, Dr. Nima!

Answer: Tear trough swelling after fillers Physicians have different preferences for which filler they use for certain areas of the face. Over many years of doing fillers I prefer Restylane or Belotero or Volbella for tear troughs as I've found, in my hands, that Juvederm Ultra creates more puffiness, and not just a few days. I would not use Voluma in this area. I use Voluma for deeper areas that need more volume or lifting power such as the temples and upper cheeks, but not the tear troughs.I do not think that any external device will dissipate the swelling as it does not degrade the filler. Hyaluronidase, the enzyme that dissolves hyaluronic acid fillers, may be needed as a series of injections to dissolve the filler but I would wait usually at least a full week after filler is placed before deciding to use an enzyme to break it down in case it is just temporary swelling. Those patients with preexisting sinus issues or allergies and puffy eyes have more temporary swelling after fillers. The information provided in Dr. Shelton's answer is for educational purposes only and is not intended to constitute medical advice. Answer: Voluma tear trough swelling. Is this normal? Thank you for sharing your question and photographs. At this point I would recommend patience to see what your long-term results will be. Though Voluma is not an ideal undereye filler, at this point you are so early in your recovery that it is difficult to know what your long-term appearance will be. Allow at least two weeks to pass for the swelling and bruising to resolve and then reassess any need for dissolving the Voluma. Hope this helps.
