Physicians have different preferences for which filler they use for certain areas of the face. Over many years of doing fillers I prefer Restylane or Belotero or Volbella for tear troughs as I've found, in my hands, that Juvederm Ultra creates more puffiness, and not just a few days. I would not use Voluma in this area. I use Voluma for deeper areas that need more volume or lifting power such as the temples and upper cheeks, but not the tear troughs.I do not think that any external device will dissipate the swelling as it does not degrade the filler. Hyaluronidase, the enzyme that dissolves hyaluronic acid fillers, may be needed as a series of injections to dissolve the filler but I would wait usually at least a full week after filler is placed before deciding to use an enzyme to break it down in case it is just temporary swelling. Those patients with preexisting sinus issues or allergies and puffy eyes have more temporary swelling after fillers. The information provided in Dr. Shelton's answer is for educational purposes only and is not intended to constitute medical advice.
