Nostril asymmetry 14 months post rhinoplasty - can this be fixed? (Photos)

Hi l had open rhinoplasty 14 months ago and am very unhappy with nostril asymmetry. My nose looks uneven and seems bigger than before. I have thick skin and hoped it was just swelling but it’s over a year now and not improving.

Hello and thank you for your question. When it comes to nostril symmetry (and rhinoplasty in general), it can be difficult to obtain perfect results. Based on the photos you have provided, the asymmetry that you are perceiving may be due to a slight notching of left ala. If this is the case, these can be challenging to correct. It would be helpful to have the details of operative report to aid in offering a possible explanation. You may benefit from a repeat consultation with the surgeon who did your initial procedure.

Hello and thank you for your question. Based on your photographs, a well designed revsion would likely improve your nostril asymmetry. Maneuvers for your surgery would include placement of extended alar contour grafts, tensioning the tip, among other maneuvers. With good surgical technique, you could have an outstanding result. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified rhinoplasty surgeon who can evaluate you in person.
