How come NOT many plastic surgeons have the “Ideal” implant?

Ideal multi-chambered, structured saline implants are available to any plastic surgeon who wants to use them.  I have been using them for several years, and my patients have been very happy with them. They are an alternate choice for women who choose not to have gel implants, and they feel quite similar to gel implants. Sizing is done the same way as for gel implants. There is about 30-50 cc fill range that can be used to make the  implants feel a little firmer or softer.
If you ask your plastic surgeon to use Ideal implants, instead of regular implants, they can get them from Ideal.

Thank you for your question. The Ideal  structured saline implants are available to any plastic surgeon who wants to use them. Many surgeons continue to offer only gel implants for financial reasons and it is what they are accustomed to using.  I have been using Ideal implants for several years, and my patients have been very happy with them. They are an excellent choice for women who choose not to have gel implants. Ideal implants have all of the advantages and safety of a saline implant without the risks of a gel or gummy bear implant.. Sizing is done the same way as for gel implants. I also find the shape of the Ideal implants to be much better in many patients than what they might get with a round or shaped gel implant. 

I think is just a matter of getting more patients informed about this great implant. If they know about it and are interested to hear about it at their consultation, then more will eventually be used in augmentation. It's difficult when I bring this up to my patients and they have not even heard of it. They naturally would choose in the direction of silicone or traditional saline implants.

they are a great Implant. It’s your whole life hopefully that you will have these implants so take your time and get what you want. Ask you doctor to get these for you. If it is the first time they use them the Ideal company may give a break to your surgeon to get them to try the implant. Doesn’t hurt to ask. If they are the only surgeon around trying the Ideal then other patients like you will seek them out. Good luck 

hello misch14The Ideal Implant™ was recently FDA approved and is now being offered at our facility, Pacific Center for Plastic Surgery Newport Beach. Some women are not comfortable having silicone implants in their body and that was one of the reasons why the Ideal Implant was created. This implant gives a more natural feeling than traditional saline implants on the market. The unique structure of the Ideal Implant allows for a similar look and feel as silicone with the safety of saline.
Find a board-certified plastic surgeon that has already performed procedure with this implant and discuss realistic goals and expectations.

There are no good reasons why someone wouldn’t use the IDEAL, it’s more likely a case of 'can't teach an old dog new tricks'. The IDEAL implant is a great product and you should ask your chosen surgeons if they are willing to use it. Sometimes it just takes a patient wanting something to get someone to look at a new procedure. Hope that helps! 

Thank you for your question. The Ideal implant is an alternative to the standard saline implant. If a patient does not desire to have silicone gel implants, this is the saline implant I use. It is superior to regular saline implants, does not ripple as much and feels closer to a gel implant. Surgeons who are interested in using it, need to sign up with the Ideal Implant company. It was developed by Texas plastic surgeon Robert Hamas. It is the newest FDA approved implant on the market.

The Ideal implant is relatively new in our practices.  Except for the small group of plastic surgeons that were part of the initial study group, they have only been in general release to plastic surgeons around the country since October/November 2017.  They are not difficult to learn how to use, however, and any board certified plastic surgeon that is experienced in breast augmentation should be able to use these.  The ideal implant is a great choice for many women who want the peace of mind of saline but more of the feel of a silicone gel device.  As more women hear about the Ideal implant and more surgeons are asked about it, I think you will see an increase in the number of practices offering them.

I would bet that any of the surgeons you've met with would be willing to talk with you about the IDEAL Implant and consider using it in your case. All plastic surgeons are familiar with how to use saline-filled breast implants, so the technique is not hard to do. It's the vast improvements in the device over traditional saline implants that have made it so appealing.

Hi,I agree with "can't teach an old dog new tricks". Unfortunately, many plastic surgeons are resistant to change. Many only implant one brand or type of device and I think this is really unfair to women. We want choices and I think the Ideal implant is a great option for many women, esp. those who are afraid of 'silent rupture'.  Check out the physician locator on the ideal implant website and find someone near you who has experience with it.  I love it!  Good luck!
