I have been told time and time again from women who have had lipo 360 with BBL done that they have lost most of their projection due to the fact that they have tight skin. I am 5’3 160lbs but most of it does not look as if it will be fat and instead it’s muscle. My biggest fear is getting the surgery done and losing the majority of it due to having tight skin. Is this the case for every woman who is on the thinner side with very little lose skin? Or does it vary per patient?
Answer: For women with tight skin, is it more than likely you will lose most of the fat after lipo/BBL? Hello and thank you for posting. Tight skin will not make your loose fat after the BBL. Tight skin may make it harder to fill out the butt when doing the BBL but it has nothing to do with fat survival. No need to be scared of getting it done. You will have great results for sure! Best of luck, Dr. Miguel Mota

Answer: Fat viability Dear Yailene, Fat viability depends a lot of surgeon technique. The fat has to be placed back into the buttocks as soon as possible so that it has a greater chance of survival. It has to be placed carefully so that not too much fat is placed in only one area. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: For women with tight skin, is it more than likely you will lose most of the fat after lipo/BBL? (Photo) After having performed this procedure hundreds and hundreds of times, you see patients all along the range of human anatomy. I would say that there are a lot of variables that factor into the result. Unless your skin has been affected by burn, trauma, previous surgery, or some type of skin disease, you can likely still get a great result. Tight skin may limit the amount of fat that can be transferred. Consult with a board certified plastic surgeon who can determine your fat stores and discuss the amount of projection you can likely attain.

Answer: For women with tight skin, is it more than likely you will lose most of the fat after lipo/BBL? (Photo) Hello. Always a 15 to 20% of the fat transfer is reabsorbed by the body, this is normal, thats why I always inject much more of what is needed to compensate. The mos important things for not loosing the transfer fat cell is the harvest technique being the traditional tumescent one the best to preserve the integrity of the fat sell for its survival in the receptor area. And the second most important thing is to avoid massages or ultrasound in the area. Having tight skin has nothing to do with it. American Society of Plastic Surgeons, 29-year experience.

Answer: Who gets the best results Generally speaking having tight skin is in my opinion the single most positive variable or attribute a patient can have to be a good candidate for both Liposuction and fat transfer procedures. Loose skin is likewise the single variable that has the greatest negative impact on both Liposuction and fat transfer. I don’t think you qualify as being on the skinny side but your skin and fat amount looks fairly ideal for this procedure. What’s more important is setting realistic expectations of what can and cannot be achieved. There’s also a significant difference among different providers. When looking at before and after pictures make sure that after pictures are always taken at least three months from the date of the procedure. All patients lose a significant amount of grafted fat. This is normal and taken into consideration when we do the procedure. Early postoperative pictures are not representative and misleading in regards to final results. Having tight skin is the single best variable you can have for body contouring. The best analogy is a fit bodybuilder wearing a suit that’s three sizes too big. The loose clothing creates an undesirable contour and so does skin. When someone has tight skin The contour changes created with both Liposuction and fat transfer hold and are visible without being distorted from skin laxity. To me you look like an ideal quintessential perfect BBL candidate. I suggest having several in person consultations with board-certified plastic surgeons in your area who have experience with this procedure. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
