What type of stitches are used for a mini facelift, bluff and forehead left?

Hello, I had an arm lift surgery in a butt lift, and the plastic surgeon used dissolvable stitches. However, the stitches got very inflamed, and I had to try to pick all the stitches out and it was very painful. They just didn’t seem to dissolve. I am now gonna have a mini facelift, bluff and forehead left and I want to make sure that the stitches work for me and I’m not allergic to them. What stitches are usually used for this procedure? The types of sutures used are 100% dependent on the surgeon, whatever they feel comfortable with. There's no prescribed "must" for sutures. In your situation, I'd try to find out exacftly what sutures were used in your prior surgery and let your surgeon know for your face stuff to try to avoid that suture material.

Thank you for the great question and I'm sorry about your previous experience.  The answer will depend on the Surgeon you choose, and has several levels of explanation.  Blepharoplasty: A fast absorbing  skin suture or a nonreactive removable polypropylene suture are frequently used for upper lid Blephs.  I prefer the latter, but both sutures are very well tolerated with very few problems. Facelift:  Deeper sutures are typically deeper long acting absorbable monofilament sutures to secure the SMAS, and a combination of sutures mentioned for blepharoplasty for skin closure.  Sometimes staples are used within hair bearing tissue to preserve hair follicles.  Good wound care, attention to detail, preceded by a discussion with your Surgeon about suture concerns will go a long way!

Each plastic surgeon will have their own preference and what type of sutures to use.
Most plastic surgeons use non-absorbable sutures that need to be removed about 10 days after surgery that should not leave ongoing issues.
Some plastic surgeons use a combination of external sutures and internal absorb sutures.
