Is there an ideal diet for eating prior to a fat transfer? I have a couple of months before my scheduled surgery and I'm wondering if there is a diet that will encourage a good transfer of Lipo/BBL. there are so many different diets right now keto vegan vegetarian does any of this matter? I am 22.5% BMI and I'm not looking to lose or gain weight only to ensure maximum tissue transfer viability. Thanks in advance for considering this question.
Answer: Is there a best diet for fat transfer? You will need to ask the plastic surgeon who will be performing your procedures. In my practice, no specific vitamins are recommended. If your lab work indicates that your hemoglobin levels are low, you may need to take iron. I recommend that my patients stop taking Vitamin E the week prior to surgery to prevent bleeding problems. Before and after surgery I recommend a diet high in protein to assist in healing. Avoid foods having saturated and trans-fats and refined sugars—they can increase inflammation; also avoid salt, caffeine and alcohol.

Answer: Preoperative protocol Dear Good2300, every plastic surgeon has his own preoperative protocol which he recommends to his patients. I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon. Answer: Diet That is a great question! I always advise patients before and after surgery to stick with a high protein, low sodium diet, with plenty of fruits and vegetables. It is also important to drink around 2 liters of water each day in order for the body to remain hydrated. While this is important before and after surgery, it is also recommended as a lifestyle choice, combined with exercise.

Answer: BBL Hello, thanks for your question. If you have fat deposits, you do not need at all to gain weight before a fat transfer, and here's no specific diet to follow before the procedure. Besides, if you have a healthy body weight, you'll have the best results in fat transfer.Consult a board-certified plastic surgeon in your area for a physical exam to be sure that you have the required amount of fat for the transfer. Good Luck!

Answer: Diet and BBL Just make sure you're eating wholesome food, but there's nothing specific for BBL surgery. Protein is excellent, both in your day-to-day life and peri-operatively, so that's always recommended. The optimal BBL outcomes are achieved with: 1) use of VASER liposuction to harvest the fat, 2) a closed looped system such as Puregraft to process the fat, and 3) strategic micro-packet transplant technique. These three processes have demonstrated over 95% fat graft take. This means that your results will be stable as long as you maintain your weight. As an official VASER trainer, I am routinely referred unhappy BBL patients. One of the most common reasons for disgruntled BBL patients is that patients are not able to accurately communicate their desired buttocks goals to their surgeons. A buttocks assessment tool can be an invaluable tool to communicate to your surgeon the exact buttocks size and shape you are desiring. A Skype or FaceTime consultation with a BBL specialist can help you get an accurate recommendation and pricing. Respectfully, Arian Mowlavi MD, FACS Realself 100 Hall of Fame Inductee
