Septoplasty can be performed more than once, but is limited by the amount of cartilage that can be safely removed or repositioned. The septal cartilage cannot be removed altogether as this cartilage is needed for support. The complication rate for septal perforation or other post-operative issues increases in revision cases, particularly after the 3rd or 4th operation. During a consultation, your surgeon can identify any septal deviation that may be causing problems and make recommendations regarding the risks and benefits of any surgical intervention. Sometimes the septum is not the cause of the symptoms, so a detailed history and physical exam is critical. As always, a visit with a well-trained and experienced nasal surgeon is recommended. All the best,

The edema after rhinoplasty can give the appearance of a bump at times. It usually resolves with time. If it is not improving over time then you should discuss this with you surgeon.RegardsDr. J
