My surgery for breast augmentation is scheduled for 1/20. I am currently on amoxicillin for strep throat (I had a positive strep test yesterday) and now I have managed to contract hand, foot, mouth disease. Even if I feel better should I reschedule my surgery? I don't want to put my body through even more stress if my immune system is not fully recovered. As much as I am anxious to have the procedure I want to make sure my recovery is as smooth as possible!

Answer: Breast Augmentation/Breast Implants/Anatomic Gummy Bear Implants/ Silicone Implants/Breast Implant Revision I appreciate your question. It is important that you discuss this question with your surgeon at this time. The best way to assess and give true advice would be an in-person exam. Answer: Surgery with strep Thank you for your question. I would defer this question to your surgeon. That being said, breast augmentation is an elective surgery. Certainly, you want to be the best possible condition to undergo the procedure. Also, if you do have an ongoing infection, there is a small but possible risk of contamination of the implant if there is bacteria in your bloodstream. Ask your surgeon, but I believe most would recommend you be completely over your strep and feeling well prior to proceeding with surgery. Best regards.
