Getting a BBL done, is it ok to go home later that day or the next day & have your hometown doctor see you for your follow up?

I'm going out of state for a bbl but didn't wanna stay the whole week. I work at a hospital and wanted to know if it's ok to leave (fly home) early and rest up at home and see a doc here for my follow up.

Your surgeon should be in direct communication with you to manage you after surgery.  I
would search for the board certified plastic surgeon who you feel is
most likely to give you the best results and who performs hundreds of
these procedures each year. I would look at patient reviews as well as

HI and thanks for your question. I hardly doubt that you will find a hometown physician willing to undertake the responsibility of a follow up on a cosmetic surgical procedure that was performed elsewhere. What if there is a complication post-op? Is it fair for your hometown doctor to take on this liability? I hardly think so. Stay the required amount of time in the city where your BBL is being performed and have your operating surgeon look after you during that first week or so. Good luck, Dr. PG

BBL is often done as an outpatient procedure, which means you go home the same day. Regarding travel, it's not the best idea to fly within a week of surgery, as you are still pretty sore/immobile, and this puts you at a much higher risk of a clot in your leg that can travel up to your lung and cause serious issues. Your surgeon is the best one to ask if follow up can be done locally. I always tell my out of town patients to stay a week after surgery at a minimum, and to be prepared for the worst case scenario of needing to come back and see me if there are any complications.

The only time I would follow a patient for post operative care is if I know the quality of care the original doctor provides and he/she is in direct contact with me.otherwise no surgeon would take on the risks. Plus the post operative care comes with significant care and cost. If any procedure is needed you will be fully responsible for the cost. Also doctor doing the follow up is legally not responsible for any complications or results , be prepared to sign a lengthy legal conract and release.
