Will half a syringe of Juvederm be enough for my already full lips? (Photo)

I am considering getting lip injections. I made an appointment for half a syringe of juvederm ultra, but the person I was communicating with strongly encouraged patients rarely see results with half a syringe and that i should consider more. I want to go in there with a clear idea of what I want. Will half a syringe be enough for me? I do not want to look like I have overly injected lips.

Thank you for sharing your question and photographs. Unfortunately without knowing what your goal results are it is difficult to offer definite advice but half of a syringe of Ultra will offer a subtle appearance change to your lips and if you are splitting it between your upper and lower even more so.  Have representative goal photographs in mind when you go to your appointment so that your injector has a better visual idea of what you want to achieve.  Hope this helps.

Most advanced injectors have moved beyond using Juvederm and are incorporating the Vycross products such as Volbella and Vollure for their lip injections.  In your case, you already have a good amount of volume and so I would strongly recommend using Volbella which actually does come in a 0.55cc syringe so that you wouldn't get excessive volume.Make sure that you ask about the experience and expertise of your injector.  The person behind the syringe makes all the difference between a good result and a not so good result!  I hope that helps!Warmest regards,Gregory A Buford MD FACSBoard Certified Plastic Surgeon and Author

You would get a nice result with half a syringe. I prefer to use a micro cannula to inject the lips to prevent bruising. Look for a cosmetic dermatologist or plastic surgeon who is an expert in fillers.

Hi, you do have good volume and shape to your lips...you may consider a syringe of Volbella instead (0.55cc) which is great for lip augmentation and you can always build up and add another syringe if the effect is not enough. Make sure to visit an experienced injector for best results.

Dear jeskahp,I typically use Juvederm for my lip sculpting. There are two main focuses of lip injections, adding volume and actually sculpting the shape. Both involve injecting the filler in different areas of the lips and patterns. You will most likely get good results with half a syringe. 
I would recommend finding a plastic surgeon to perform you lip injections. Most of my patients have results that last at least 6 months.Daniel Barrett, MD

You have a great shape to your lips and a fuller lower lip, I do think a half syringe  would work well on you if you are looking to volumize the upper lip, and I would use the remaining filler for your nasolabial fold. There is always somewhere else that could use a little filler, and this way during the session if you decide that you want more for your lips than the half syringe you can easily add more.Best,Dr. Papantoniou

Your lips are beautifully shaped and injecting 1/2 of the syringe could make them significantly fuller. All depends on the injection. The most common injections bring shapeless full lips for 2 reasons. First, large amount of the filler, second, plane of the injection. Your goal is to evert the lips in order to bring about the enhancement while maintaining the shape. In your case 1/2 of syringe should be perfect.The most important is to stay natural rather than overdone, to have naturally beautiful and proportional lips rather than than shapeless structures. Your lips belong to your face and must be enhanced accordingly. Good luck!!!!

To determine the right amount of filler I recommend a consultation with your injector prior to treatment.  Half a syringe of product is a conservative amount.  The typical beginning treatment is around 1ml of filler.  However, the great thing about filler is that you can begin slowly and add more if you desire more volume.  Remember that swelling is common after treatment, so it will take about 2 weeks to see your final results.
