How many patients does the average PS do in a day? I don’t want to think he/she is rushed for time on my surgery day?

I operate everyday and only do 1 patient a day so I am never rushed and the patient has my whole day to fine tune the results and make sure everything turns out great.

This will vary greatly between surgeons. Some surgeons see patients for half day and do surgery for half day, others may do surgery all day for 1 or 2 days and see patients on the other days. If your surgery is in a hospital there may be only a certain amount of time blocked out for the surgeon on any given day. Trust that your surgeon has your best interests at heart and will not over book your surgery day. Good luck.

The answer to your question is that it varies. The number of patients that the doctor operates on each day is probably less important than the amount of time that the doctor operates. In this case, it sounds like the doctor has a certain amount of time set aside in the day for your procedure and adding something extra to your procedure just means that the other cases will not fit. They are probably saying that from a practical standpoint, it is easier to reschedule your surgery with the extra time rather than reschedule the other surgeries on the same day as you surgery.

Thank you for posting your question.  How many patients the plastic surgeon operates on in a day varies a lot. It depends on the expected length of surgery and the amount of operating time available to the surgeon amongst other factors. Some surgeries take 6 to 7 hours or more, while others are under 1 hour in length.  Your surgeon may have allowed enough time to do your facelift and othe patients may have booked the remaining operating time. This does not necessarily mean that your surgeon is over worked or under too much pressure. It is simply the practicalities of scheduling operations and booking a normal working day for your surgeon. If you have otherwise found the right surgeon for you in every other aspect, then I would suggest speaking to their office and/or to your surgeon and finding the right solution for your surgery.

In our practice,  we do not want to operate more than 8 hours, which is enough time to perform multiple cases, or 1 or 2 cases, depending upon which type of procedures are being performed. Choose your Surgeon based on studying their before and after facelift photo  Gallery and obtaining natural results consistently.

It’s probably more accurate to think about how many hours per day somebody works in the operating room versus how many patients they treat. I may do one big case with multiple procedures or several shorter cases on multiple patients.On operating days I can easily operate from 8 to 12 hours. This is pretty standard in our world. Some doctors spend half the day operating and half the day in clinic. I choose not to do that because I don’t want to ever feel rushed having to get from one place to another. If there isn’t time to add more time to your surgery it is likely that your doctor has already filled the day and the operating room has limits in how long they can go because of staffing, or they are scheduled to be somewhere else like clinic after your surgery and adding another procedure will make them late. 

Dear kimund, This varies from surgeon to surgeon and what their general practice is. I personally operate three to four days a week and see patients four days a week. Procedures are scheduled out taking an average time of what the procedure generally takes. Some surgeons are using operating facilities which they book for a standard time frame and other surgeons need that operating room so they may block an estimated time frame and didn't allow extra time for an added procedure. I personally own my own fully accredited surgical facility. Since I am the only one who operates there and my staff is there until the last patient goes home regardless of time I do not have constraints. I also leave a large window from the time of finishing surgery until I see my first patient. This allows me time for lunch and cleaning up before the second half of my day begins. As I said everyone has their own protocol. I would address your concerns with your surgeon. I am sure you would not rush someones hair even if someone else is waiting.
