Should I seperate my mommy makeover surgery into two separate surgeries?

Before choosing my PS I had consults with 3 other surgeons. The third doctor suggested that I do the extended TT first and then the Brest lift because he was worried about the amount of time I would be under if done all at once. The surgeon I chose said that he could do both procedures at the same time. Should I tell my PS that I want to split up the procedures or just take his word? He is a double board certified surgeon in Miami, FL and all his reviews are really good.

The mommy makeover is a combination of
procedures to bring a woman’s body back to the way she looked prior to
pregnancy. Most commonly some variation of a #TummyTuck and #BeastSurgery are
performed. Additional procedures can include liposuction, umbilical hernia
repair.  The most common
#breastprocedures include #mastopexy or #breastlift, #breastaugmentation,
#breastreduction. Note that in my office there would be no need to separate your procedures, but this would be best answered by the surgeon completing your surgery.

I usually do all of these procedures at the same time unless there is a compelling reason not to. Using your tummy tuck incision is great to place saline and silicone implants. Not only is it possible to place your breast implants through your tummy tuck incision, it is my preferred method in that it does not take extra time and leaves no scars on your breasts. I have been using this approach for more than 25 years with great satisfaction from my patients. You might consider using the fat from your Lipo rather than buttock implants.

There is no right or wrong answer for this.  I commonly do breast lift and tummy tuck in the same procedure. Perhaps the plastic surgeon that you chose has a particular reason why he is recommending you separate them. I would direct your concerns to him and only move forward when you feel completely comfortable with your decision.  Best of luck!

Assuming you are in good health, I see no reason why an extended tummy tuck and breast lift could not be accomplished in a reasonable time frame in one session. Longer surgeries do have a higher risk of complications, but this is a common combination and could be done in about 5 hours.

Thank you for your question.  It is very common to combine these procedures.  This will allow you to recover from both surgeries at the same time and limit the amount of time you need to take off from your life.  A reputable, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon should be able to safely perform both of theses procedures at the same time if you are a healthy patient.  Good luck!

If you are healthy and have the proper preoperative evaluation, more than one procedure can be performed.  If the procedures will take over eight hours, a 23 hour admission may be beneficial.  It is very common to perform multiple surgical procedure at the same surgical setting.

If you are healthy and undergo the proper pre and postoperative care it is a very reasonable thing to do together. In my practice we have a team that works together all the time so these two procedure would take a total of less then 4 hours and you would go home. Some surgeons may take 6-8 hours and then at this point you probably should spend the night after such a long anesthetic. Lots of options it sounds like you have done your homework! Good Luck!

We frequently perform breast augmentation/lift with tummy tucks (also known as a "mommy makeover" during the same operation.This is great for women who desire only one recovery period, rather than splitting the procedures up into two separate operations.And, the "mommy makeover" may be performed safely with the combination of breast and abdominal procedures.If you have met with a surgeon who feels that he/she cannot perform these operations together in a reasonable time, then I think it's great that he/she was honest with you.However, many plastic surgeons routinely perform these operations together in several hours, so I don't think it is necessary for you tell your plastic surgeon to "split up the procedures."Best of luck to you!
