I am planning on getting a Bret revision surgery and tummy tuck with no lipo in September. My primary care Dr just told me I should have my tonsils out too. I want my tonsils out the old way with cut and sewn as opposed to the laser. Can my plastic surgeon do that too? I'd like to only take time off once and OR ands anesthesia fee once.

Answer: Can I add a tonsillectomy? Plastic surgeons do not perform tonsillectomies. The combination you are proposing is not a good idea from the viewpoint of potential complications.I would suggest that your plastic surgeon be certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and ideally a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) that you trust and are comfortable with. You should discuss your concerns with that surgeon in person. Robert Singer, MD FACS La Jolla, California

Answer: Mommy Makeover I would have reservations about this combination with a tonsillectomy and I would recommend consulting with both a PS and an ENT / Otolaryngology surgeon and to have an MDT discussion with the anaesthetist to determine the pros and cons.I personally have performed combination body rejuvenation surgery and facial surgery simultaneously. For a tonsillectomy I would always involve an ENT surgeon for this part of the procedure. I disagree with the previous comments that the tonsillectomy would significantly increase the risk of infection in the mommy makeover. However the main issue I foresee is that bleeding from tonsillectomy afterwards can cause increased risks of nausea / vomiting that could increase your chance of haematoma from the mommy makeover.
