Hi I’m scheduled to have facelift in 2 months, anything in advance I should be doing to prepare for my best results? Nutrition, vitamins, lotions. I always wear sunscreen. I want the very best outcome. Thank you
Answer: Before a Facelift Before a Facelift, I recommend that you ensure you're at the optimal weight as significant weight fluctuations can have an effect on the skin. I would advise good nutrition, to have a balanced diet, including a lots of vegetables and foods that are rich in Omega-3s (such as fish, nuts and seeds, green vegetables). In our practice, we have a comprehensive pre-surgery care plan which involves starting our patients on a special 111SKIN supplement that contains a mixture of vitamins, minerals and amino acids. Combined with our Dramatic Healing Serum that additionally contains important ingredients, like Vitamin C, and antioxidants that help to accelerate the healing of the skin.

Answer: What you should know about facelift preparation Thank you for your question. It is always best to discuss questions and concerns with the surgeon performing the procedure when possible. Adequate nutrition and skin care are always desired, though a list of foods and products to avoid should be reviewed prior to surgery. Anything that thins the blood should be avoided, such as red wine, fish oil, aspirin, vitamin E, and a variety of other supplements. Since thinned blood can increase bleeding and bruising and extend surgical procedures, it’s important to discuss everything you take with your surgeon. I recommend scheduling an in-person consultation with an experienced, board-certified facial plastic surgeon who will go over your concerns and questions with you and provide proper guidance on how to prepare for your procedure.

Answer: Recomendaciones I suggest you follow only the instructions of your doctor. There are some vitamins such as vitamin E, which most patients would think would not affect anything during surgery, however it increases the risk of bleeding. That is why you should only take into account the indications of your doctor, an expert in the procedure.

Answer: What should I do before my facelift for the best outcome? Hello @ritasmith, thank you for your question. It depends on the type of surgery that you will undergo. However, in general, it is advisable not to gain or lose weight abruptly. To have a stable weight after surgery so that it does not affect the laxity of the skin. Follow the recommendations of the treating physician regarding medications, vitamins that he/she considers appropriate to eliminate or take prior to surgery. It is best to avoid direct sun exposure on the face 2 months prior to surgery so that the skin is perfect and its structures aren't damaged. Use plenty of sunscreen even if you do not sunbathe and keep your skin as moisturized as possible. With respect to non-surgical treatments it would be beneficial to have an ultherapy session before your surgery to improve the elasticity of your skin, which is not related to the surgical procedure because when the facelift surgery is done the excess skin is removed but the skin that remains, parts from zero in the aging process and what it would do is to give a collagen support to the skin.
