I’m only 36 and just had my third baby 3 mo ago. I lost 50lb and this time noticed that I have extra skin around my neck and nasolabial folds have become very prominent. I am very sad about this and feel like I look much older now than I actually am. What can I do? My older sister appears to have this but much worse over the last few years. I’m not sure if it’s weight loss related or genetic? The skin is just so lax almost as if it happened overnight.
Answer: Short Scar Facelift A short scar facelift is a great option for many people. The recovery & downtime is very minimal. There are usually no drains, most people can go out the same day, you can shower the next day, there're no scars behind the ears and you can wear your hair up anytime and most patients take no pain medicine. The result is usually the same in selected patients as a full scar facelift but it really depends on your exam. Surgery is not for everyone. In today's day and age, there are many nonsurgical options to consider although surgery usually gets the most improvement specifically of the neck and jowls. I would recommend that you see a board-certified plastic surgeon in your area that is a member of both ASPS & ASAPS and performs a lot of mini facelifts and neck lifts but also offers all the nonsurgical options such as injectables and laser treatments. Go over your concerns with them and make sure above all, you walk out of there with several options and an idea of the pros and cons to each of them as well as realistic expectations. I hope this helps and wish you all the best in your surgery and event. If it does, please take a moment to up vote this answer on the “respond” button on the top right.

Answer: Morpheus 8 Hi @winningwithgoobear! I recommend Morpheus 8. Morpheus8 is a non-surgical treatment for full body skin resurfacing, skin tightening, and fat reduction of stubborn areas. It uses minimally invasive fractional radiofrequency energy (RF) to penetrate the skin deeper than other microneedling devices, triggering the skin’s natural healing response to promote skin tightening and lifting. Best of luck, Dr. Nima!

Answer: Face I would recommend a facelift/necklift to address your concerns. I would recommend seeing a board-eligible or board-certified plastic surgeon with extensive aesthetic training in plastic surgery of the face. This includes a plastic surgeon who performed at least a 6 year plastic surgery residency and an extra 1 year aesthetic fellowship. Best of luck!

Answer: Full Facelift for Nasolabial folds Dear winningwithgoobear, It is a fact that pregnancies and weight loss combined have an affect on the quality of your skin, Hence if you reached your ideal weight, you seem to be a good candidate for full-face lift surgery without visible scarring which will include the neck, face and upper parts of your face as well. Furthermore, for your lasolabial lines we recommend getting fat injections. For more information you may follow the link to these procedures. Best Regards, TAS TEAM

Answer: How RF microneedling may be right for you Thank you for your question and photos. After significant weight loss, your skin may need time to retract and possibly tighten somewhat on its own. You are still young and don’t appear to have considerable signs of aging, so you would unlikely be a candidate for a facelift at this time. However, you may benefit from RF microneedling treatments to increase collagen production, restore elasticity to lift sagging skin, and smooth fine lines. I recommend scheduling an in-person consultation with an experienced, board-certified facial plastic surgeon. They will be able to consider your medical history and aesthetic goals to determine the best treatment option.

Answer: The best procedure for tightening extra skin in the neck and jawline Thank you for your question. It looks like you might be a good candidate for a mini face and neck lift. This procedure is most suitable for patients in their 30's and 40's that would help with early signs of facial aging, tighten the lax skin of the neck, improve the jowls and soften nasolabial folds. This kind of procedure oftentimes could be a part of the so-called mommy makeover. Take a look at the attached video to determine whether you are a good candidate for a mini face and neck lift. Also, keep in mind that you have to be completely done with breastfeeding before considering undergoing such a procedure. Best wishes! Dr. Konstantin
