Waiting time between tummy tuck and vaginoplasty? What should I do first?

There's no right answer. We frequently do them on the same day if the tummy tuck is expected to be two hours or less. For someone of your size, the recovery from a tummy tuck until you can go back to a desk job is around 3 weeks. Thank you for your questionAfter seven babies I can understand why you would like a vaginal reconstruction. The most important question is what type of procedures are needed. The word vaginoplasty literally means plastic surgery of the vagina. It originally was used to refer to the creation of a new vagina but is now generally used to describe any of the procedures to repair and improve the functioning of the vagina. The vagina is a tube shaped organ connected on six sides(apex, entrance, anterior or bladder side, posterior or rectal side, and the two lateral sides). Depending on the defects, any or all of these sides may need repair and each is repaired differently. Also, there are different approaches to these repairs which which are qualitatively different giving different results. I would suggest you do your homework and find a surgeon who can do an enterocoele repair(apex) , site specific defect repair of the anterior vagina(bladder side) and posterior (rectal side) and perineum(orifice). Either case can be done first though I think it easier if you do vaginal case first. I suggest 8 weeks between . Carefully review reviews and before and after photos

Bududaddy, You can have both the vaginoplasty and the tummy tuck done at the same time. There is no reason to wait for recovery from one procedure to be able to do the other.

I am not sure what symptoms you are having with your vagina, but if they are completely cosmetic , you could probably do both procedures at the same time. I have dome tummy tucks with a urogynecologust who can repair laxity withing the vaginal area and the patients have done well.

I think that you should meet with both types of surgeons who can work together to give you the best result and help you make an informed decision.

However, if you would like to stage them, that is also fine. As for which one to do first, it is up to you and what bothers you the most that you would want to have corrected first. Best wishes!

Q: Should vaginal wall reconstruction and a tummy tuck be done separately?
A: Not necessary, it is possible to do double procedures simultaneously with two surgeons working independently, one on your tummy tuck and the other on your vaginal wall reconstruction. Additionally, one surgeon only does both approaches consecutively. Also, those procedures can be at two settings a) a tummy tuck; b) vaginal reconstruction and avoiding doing vaginal tightening. The vaginal reconstruction should be done by repairing site-specific vaginal anterior, posterior, and lateral walls. It usually requires modified posterior perineoplasty. I researched this topic and published my finding and a new procedure in J Reprod Med 2015;60:109-116). You should avoid a vaginal tightening procedure.I would suggest waiting for the second surgery 6-week or longer before going ahead with the second procedure. It does not make any difference which operation you will do first. Doing in two settings apart, you will have two recoveries periods.

You can elect to have either procedure done first, however the recovery is longer for the tummy tuck. You may be a candidate for a non surgical vaginal rejuvenation procedure depending on your needs and goals. I've included a video I hope you find helpful.
