The word vaginoplasty literally means plastic surgery of the vagina. It originally was used to refer to the creation of a new vagina but is now generally used to describe any of the procedures to repair and improve the functioning of the vagina. The vagina is a tube shaped organ connected on six sides(apex, entrance, anterior or bladder side, posterior or rectal side, and the two lateral sides). Depending on the defects, any or all of these sides may need repair and each is repaired differently. Also, there are different approaches to these repairs which which are qualitatively different giving different results. I would suggest you do your homework and find a surgeon who can do an enterocoele repair(apex) , site specific defect repair of the anterior vagina(bladder side) and posterior (rectal side) and perineum(orifice).
