Can CoolSculpting hand piece be used on cheeks now?

CoolSculpting is an effective and safe treatment for the abdomen, hips, inner and outer thighs as well as some other areas. There is not a hand piece for the cheeks and I am skeptical about whether or not one will be developed. Most people want more volume in their cheeks and purchase filler or even undergo surgery to achieve this youthful look. As we age, our facial volume depletes and we often start looking sunken and droopy. Volume in the cheeks is a symbol of youth. The face also does not have as thick of layers of fat as the rest of the body so there is an increased possibility of "ridging" type look. Additionally, CoolSculpting works best on adipose tissue that is soft as opposed to adipose tissue that is firm. Comparatively speaking, the adipose tissue on the face tends to be firm making it difficult to treat effectively. 

At this time there are no applicators which are designed for the face and I would not recommend using any of the existing applicators anywhere on the face. I have heard that the company is working on FDA approval for the submental region. (Think of the area under you chin) This could be a really great way to address double and triple chins but as I said is not quite out yet. Without being able to see you it would be difficult to make a recomendation to reduce cheek fat but generally that is something that we would do a buccal fat pad removal for.

Hi.  We're all interested in facial applicators for the CoolSculpting machine.  Apparently, they are under development.  So far, there is no way to treat this area with cryolipolysis - all the applicators are too large.However, you could look at other technologies, such as RF (radio-frequency).  

Hi there-While Coolsculpting is a great tool and I have a great deal of confidence in its safety and effectiveness for reducing unwanted subcutaneous fat, I always tell my own patients that it is important to also be mindful of its limitations. There is no safe and effective way to use the Coolsculpting technology on the facial soft tissues at the present time.

Thank you for your question.  No, there is no CoolSculpting hand piece that would work for facial fat. We use a radio frequency treatment called Exilis Elite to help eliminate facial fat and tone the skin. This is an office procedure that typically takes about 2-3 treatments spaced about 1-2 weeks apart.  It takes a few weeks to several months to realize the full result.  You want to be careful about removing too much facial fat.  A big concern with facial aging is due to loss of facial fat!  That is why so many doctors offer facial fillers and fat injections to help restore a more youthful look to the face.  That said, too much fullness of the face and neck can be improved with Exilis Elite. There is still no applicator available to freeze the fat of the cheeks and I doubt that there ever would be one. I'm not aware of any non-surgical options to reduce the fat of the cheeks.

There is not yet a CoolSculpting applicator that has been developed for the cheeks, face, or neck.  I am not aware of any current FDA approved treatment for non-surgical reduction of cheek fat.  

No, Coolsculpting is not meant nor approved for use in the cheeks, face or neck.  Things can always change in the future, so keep your eye out for new developments. 

Coolsculpting has not been approved by the FDA for the use for the cheeks. We have heard that some centers are doing the face but proceed with caution.
