I have excess eye lids skin. Would removal help with pain from glaucoma, cataracts, dry eye, PVD and allergies?

Hi landrocket, Greetings from the UK. Out of all your coexistent ocular morbidity, the only things that would potentially cause discomfort is the dry eye syndrome. PVD, glaucoma and cataracts per se don't cause discomfort. Dry eye syndrome coupled with ocular surface disease related to allergies may cause discomfort. No, dermatochalasis though would not cause ocular surface discomfort and if anything, blepharoplasty surgery may worsen any ocular surface comorbidity. Blepharoplasty surgery rarely may help with frontal headaches caused by frontal muscle overreaction to compensate for visual field compromise. Either way I'd definitely recommend that you see an oculoplastic surgeon first and who'll be able to assess you ocular surface status at the same time. Blepharoplasty surgery with no consideration for the ocular surface may open up a massive can of problems for you. Best WishesDavid

 Performing an upper blepharoplasty procedure  will not have any effect on the medical conditions of your eyes or eyelids. Important not to remove too much skin from the upper lids to make the dry eye issue worse.

Blepharoplasty would not help any of your coexisting ocular conditions.If you have dry eye or allergies you should be careful about having a blepharoplasty to make sure you don't worsen any of these conditions. You should see a fellowship trained Oculoplastic surgeon for an in person exam and consultation to see if a blepharoplasty is the correct operation for you and whether it may be beneficial or not.
