What is happening to my smile? (Photo)

Question

I've stayed the same weight. I'm on no medications. No new health problems. I've not had any dental or facial work done to my face between these photos. Why is my smile changing so much? It actually feels physically uncomfortable to smile now. My lower face seems larger. My chin is longer and it's hard to show my teeth when I smile. Thank you for any suggestions.

Morpheus 8 is a non-invasive skin and soft tissue tightening treatment that is consistently amazing in our patients. We use the Morpheus to exact fractional induced RF into the skin or tissue in order to tighten collagen and stimulate contraction of the tissue. For acne scars, it is quite useful to build collagen in patients who have atrophic scars but is not very productive for ice-pick scars which require TCA Cross. For tissue tightening, Morpheus is ideal for the face and neck and we often combine it with CO2 laser or Ultherapy to further enhance results. Chemical peels and skin resurfacing should be done at least 5 to 7 days after, but can be performed earlier, depending on treatment severity. Avoid exfoliating skin treatments before Morpheus and expect a period of 2-4 weeks for skin contraction to set in.

Thank you for the question. There’s nothing particularly wrong with your smile. It looks normal from your pics. You’re aging and changes occur in our faces as we age. The skin is less elastic and can droop, we tend to lose fat which means less volume which means less fullness. When combined with loss of skin tone, it means everything looks and feels heavy and droopy. Nothing to be worried about. Hydrate, moisturize, sun-protect, and get good sleep. Outside of that, you can consider fillers. If that’s not enough, there’s surgery. But see an experience face specialist to discuss those options. All the best!

I don’t appreciate any significant change based on the pictures provided.
We all have facial changes based on aging, and each year will take its toll.
There are individuals the develop facial nerve weakness for unknown reasons. We usually call that Bell’s palsy.
I don’t see any evidence of facial nerve weakness based on your pictures.
I see no need for intervention or an evaluation.
