Can I have my implants removed while on warfarin?

Question

Taking warfarin, I want implant removal in office under local. Do I have to stop the warfarin or can I continue with it. Lovenox is a bridge? Do i need it for 2 small incisions

every plastic surgeon has his own preoperative protocol which he recommends to his patients. I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon.

Thank you for sharing your question.  You would need to bridge to another medication in anticipation of any incision or procedure.  Talk to your hematologist about the best steps.

You will not be able to take warfarin and have elective surgery.  You do need to check with your medical doctor to see if you should be on Lovenox during the time you are off warfarin. This should have already been discussed with you during your consultation.

You will need to be off warfarin prior to your procedure.  Contact your hematologist to discuss your desire for surgery and to get clearance.  See a board certified plastic surgeon near you to determine if you are a candidate to have your implants removed under local anesthesia.
