Hello, I had surgery in October 2022. Since healing, my belly button keeps getting smaller if I don’t wear a shaper in it nIfI leavthe shaper off for a few nights it will be tight to get it in again. Do I need to do something surgical about this? Or keep wearing a shaper overnight
Answer: Discuss with your surgeon It would be a good idea to discuss this with your surgeon. They may recommend that you continue wearing the shaper for a while longer, or surgical intervention may be necessary.

Answer: Belly button still closing up Dear Maonelsa, I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what is wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice. Answer: Managing Belly Button Closure After Surgery Thank you for your question about your belly button closure following surgery in October 2022. Based on your description, it seems that your belly button is gradually tightening when the shaper is not in use. This can happen if the scar tissue around the belly button contracts as part of the healing process, which is common after procedures like tummy tucks. If the shaper is helping maintain the desired shape and size of your belly button, I recommend continuing its use overnight or as directed by your surgeon. This non-surgical approach can often manage the issue without requiring additional intervention. Over time, consistent use of a belly button shaper may help stabilize the area and prevent further tightening. However, if this problem persists or worsens despite your efforts, you may consider discussing surgical options with your plastic surgeon. Minor surgical adjustments can reopen or reshape the belly button if necessary. This is typically a straightforward procedure but should only be considered after exhausting non-surgical measures. In the meantime, maintaining regular follow-ups with your surgeon is essential. They can assess the healing progress and provide tailored advice for your specific case. If you’re finding the tightening particularly concerning or uncomfortable, don’t hesitate to reach out to your plastic surgeon for an in-person evaluation. Sincerely, Dr. Katzen

Answer: What to do about your bellybutton It seems you should see your plastic surgeon to determine whether surgery may be helpful. At this point, it would not be expected that it keeps trying to close. May be a small office surgery could fix the problem.

Answer: Belly button closing As your surgery was two years ago you may have a scar where the tissue is contracting. A revision to the belly button may be helpful. I encourage you to return to your surgeon to discuss your concerns and learn more about your options.
