Where on the frontalis does botox need to be injected to achieve a dropped brow and dropped corners?

Botox acts by relaxing muscles.  Injections into muscles will result  in the opposite effect of how a muscle works.  For example, the main brow elevator is the frontalis muscle.  If a patient desires a lower brow, then by  injecting into a muscle that normally elevates a brow, would result in the brow being less elevated, or lowered

I would just discuss this with your injector prior to treatment and they can adjust where the injections need to be done. Botox can certainly give you a more relaxed or lower brow if it is too "peaked". Be sure you choose an experienced injector. In our office only the board certified facial plastic surgeon injects and has over 15 years experience. The injection should be above the most peaked area of the brow to get the effect you want.

Although this is counter-intuitive for most Botox injectors, to get the brow to flatten and "drop" botox injection of the frontalis muscle is should be performed closer to the brows and extend further lateral near the temples. Typically one avoids to inject in the area about the width of one finger tip above the brow as this might drop the brow. in your case this is where a few units might come in useful to obtain the look you desire. 
As clinicians are responsibility is to educate patients and try to obtain the results they seek in the safest manner possible.

The information you have posted is correct most do not want a dropped brow with Botox use and thus training and ongoing experience to avoid this centered on this premise. Having said that giving you the effect you want is possible by simply modifying the technique to create what we are trained to avoid. See an experienced injector and let them know what your desired outcome is and they can help you. Be well. 

Dropping of the brow can occur if injection is into the lower part of the frontalis.  You look like Dr Spock because many times doctors do not inject lateral enough and the areas are therefore not weak there so be sure your doctor does inject all the way to the edge on both sides

Hello vivianl440,Although not a common request to drop the brow, Botox is simply injected across the forehead over the brows to do this.  Most people prefer a raised brow so you avoid the outside corners above the brow to raise.  To drop you simply treat this area as well.  If that is the result you are going for, let your physician injector know and he or she would be able to achieve this result.  Since it sounds like you have had problems with injections in the past, I'd recommend you consult with a facial plastic surgeon who does his or her own injections.I hope this helps and good luck. 

Thank you for your question. Lowering the central portion and tail of the brow requires the injector to place botox closer to the brow hairs themselves and across the entire width of the frontalis. This is an example of where the injector must understand your particular frontalis anatomy and goals (which are certainly achievable). Good communication and an experienced injector are key.
