I have always had to deal with Herpes on my lips. The last two months I have not had a single day without it and now it Is starting to grow on my upper lip too. Do lip fillers kind of help against herpes? I am really frustrated.

Answer: Lip Augmentation with Fillers (Juvederm, Restylane, Volbella) and Herpes Lip fillers won't help improve herpes. However, you can have lip fillers with the herpes virus. It is recommended to take Valtrex both before and after treatment to help with an outbreak. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. Best, Dr. Emer

However, they will not help against a herpes outbreak, they can actually trigger an outbreak. The only treatment for herpes is medication like Valtrex. Botox is never to be injected into the lips and fillers are not to be given to anyone with active herpes infections and if you get them all the time, then perhaps you should see a board certified dermatologist and get on prophylactic herpes medication to minimize these. Fillers do nothing to prevent the outbreaks.
