You are an excellent candidate for breast fat transfer. The procedure can give modest increase in breast size with patients typically gaining 1/2 cup breast size volume augmentation when done by skilled and experienced providers. Delivering consistent quality, liposuction and fat transfer results is more difficult than most people believe. The number of plastic surgeons who can deliver consistent quality results is relatively few. The results of this procedure are permanent and irreversible. Poorly done Liposuction can leave people disfigured for life. I cannot emphasize enough. The importance of being thorough and provider selection when it comes to Liposuction or fat transfer procedures. I recommend patients do this by having multiple in person consultations. During each consultation, ask each provider to open up their portfolio and show you their entire collection of before, and after pictures of previous patients, who have similar body and breast characteristics to your own. For fat transfer results it is imperative did you know when the after pictures were taken in relationship to the date of surgery. Early fat transfer results can look very impressive but do not in anyway represent final results. After pictures should be taken in minimum three months, preferably or longer after the procedure. Fat transfer can increase breast size change breast shape in any meaningful way. Results are usually fairly subtle. I do not recommend having a liposuction of your buttocks. The most common area, the hardest that for this procedure is liposuction of the torso. In your case, that is what I would recommend with a strong emphasis on the glove handle area where the transitions between your buttocks and waist. I generally view the torso as a single anatomic unit when it comes to Liposuction and generally treat the entire torso in order to not leave patients for transition zones between treated and untreated areas. A full torso includes upper abdomen, lower abdomen, love handles, waist, full back, and under arms all the way to the side of the breast. An experience provider should have no difficulty showing you at least 50 sets of before and after pictures of commonly performed procedures. Being shown a handful of pre-selected images representing the best results of a providers career is insufficient to get a clear understanding of what average results look like for each provider. In the end, I love you variables that really matter are patient candidacy, and provider selection. Patient having breast fat transfer should recognize that this is in fact two procedures done at the same time. This means you need to be assessed for both Liposuction and fast transfer. Likewise do you need to vet providers for their skill in both Liposuction and fat transfer. Become familiarize with what quality results look like they reviewing lots of before and after pictures online. Recognize that far transfer results that look overly impressive may in reality represent early results and are not a representation of final results. Liposuction results look very carefully at all areas treated to make sure there are no skin contour, irregularities in any treated area. During consultations asked providers to review before and after pictures with you. Ask them to point out the exact areas that were treated with Liposuction and look carefully at transition zones between treated and untreated areas. Ask providers to show you a variety of outcomes. Ask providers to show you examples of excellent outcomes, average outcomes, and outcomes that did not turn out as well as they had hoped. The goal is always to get a clear understanding of what average results look like and how many cases each provider has actually done. If providers are reluctant to show you sufficient numbers of before and after pictures, then make note of that and continue onto the next consultation. The biggest mistake patients make is either not understanding their own candidacy or failure of selecting the best provider by only having one consultation. Personally, I recommend all patients start by having at least five in person, consultations and consider scheduling more and less you feel very confident you found one of the best providers in your community. You’ll be reminded of the outcome every day for the rest of your life. The time to be critical of plastic surgeons is before you schedule surgery. Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD
