It's been a month since my rhinoplasty, immediately after my cast was removed I noticed the tip of my nose to be crooked. I tried not to stress because I know it takes time to heal but it's been four weeks and I have noticed any progress. I thought it might be uneven swelling but it's remained the same throughout the weeks. I doubt it will drastically change within the next few months.
Answer: Tip asymmetry after rhinoplasty It is too early at 4 weeks to assess the results of the rhinoplasty. One occasionally sees asymmetric swelling after rhinoplasty and this may improve over the next 6 months. My advice would be to stay in touch with your surgeon. If an adjustment is required this is best performed between 6 months and one year. If the asymmetry persists it can be due to a septal deviation or an asymmetric configuration of the nasal tip cartilages. This would be correctable and an open approach would be appropriate. At the moment however, it is best to be patient and wait for full healing and the tissues to settle. All the best.

Answer: Crooked uneven tip 4 weeks after rhinoplasty. Should I consider Revision? It's not entirely unusual to see swelling that causes the tip to be crooked at this point in time, as you are still very early on in the healing process. It takes a full year for all the swelling to resolve. I would recommend that you see your surgeon for follow up appointments over the next few months so that they can follow and document your progress. If at one year, you are still unhappy, a revision surgery could be considered if your surgeon feels that you're a candidate. You can also consider getting a second opinion from another surgeon who specializes in rhinoplasty.Best of luck,Dr. Philip Solomon, Solomon Facial Plastic, Toronto, Canada

Answer: Nasal tip deviation It seems unlikely the deviation was completely resolve. However it is too early to intervene in any form. The deviation will continue to change and might even get a little better over time as the swelling subsides. There is no reason to stress and do an early revision or intervention. Wait for at least 3 months before making a decision on performing some kind of intervention.RegardsDr. J

Answer: Rhinoplasty Recovery Hello, Four weeks after rhinoplasty is too early to make any sort of judgement on results. Overall, I advise my patients that swelling can be present for up to one year. Allow your surgeon to reassure you regarding your recovery . Regards,

Answer: Crooked uneven tip four weeks after rhinoplasty. I guess my question is should I consider revision surgery? Thank you for your question. I am sorry to hear that you are concerned about the result of your rhinoplasty. The first 2 views actually look quite good. The third few from above shows a deviation of the tip to the left. This is most likely cause either by a crooked septum underneath or a depression of the bones on the left side. You are currently in recovery and I would see her plastic surgeon and ask if massage of the nasal bones on the right side might help improve this result. Also determine if the nasal septum is crooked. Your result will continue to improve over the next 6-8 months but I would consider steps above if your surgeon agrees.
