Is it safe to get a BBL with a vp shunt. I have been cleared by my neurosurgeon and My General doctor

It you are cleared by those two specialists, next step is to talk to a board certified plastic surgeon. The only danger my be injury of VP catheter which is placed in subcutaneous plane before entering abdomen. Good luck.

It is essential that you have both the neurosurgeon and your GP clearing you for the procedure.  Depending on the areas suctioned, your plastic surgeon should acquaint themselves with where the tubing is located for the VP shunt to empty into the abdomen.   You must make sure not to damage it.

Yes you are still a candidate for a BBL, as long as the path of the VP shunt is avoided. It is important to tell your board certified plastic surgeon where the shunt is located. If you are a good candidate (less than 5L of fat) for a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL), the optimal outcomes are achieved with: 1) use of VASER liposuction to harvest the fat, 2) a closed looped system such as Puregraft to process the fat, and 3) strategic micro-packet transplant technique. These three processes have demonstrated over 95% fat graft take. This means that your results will be stable as long as you maintain your weight. As an official VASER trainer, I am routinely referred unhappy BBL patients. One of the most common reasons for disgruntled BBL patients is that patients are not able to accurately communicate their desired buttocks goals to their surgeons. A buttocks assessment tool can be an invaluable tool to communicate to your surgeon the exact buttocks size and shape you are desiring. Each plastic surgeon will have their own view on who they’re comfortable operating on.

It would be a good idea for the plastic surgeon to know exactly where the Ventriculoperitoneal shunt enters the abdomen and where it’s tracked.  It would be unfortunate if the shunt was damaged during the procedure.  This could potentially limit how aggressive or if Liposuction is even done on the upper abdomen on the side where your shunt runs.

As always I recommend patients have multiple in person consultations with local board-certified plastic surgeons.

During that time you can discuss your medical history and see what each surgeon has to say first hand.

Delivering consistent high-quality liposuction and fat transfer results is more difficult than most people believe.

To minimize the chance of having an unflattering outcome patients need to spend a significant effort in finding the most experienced and talented provider in their community.

Do that by having multiple in person consultations.
