Can I have a BBL or any other cosmetic surgery with having VCD as a “medical condition”?

In our practice, liposuction of torso and fat transfer to buttocks (BBL) is done in general anesthesia with endotracheal intubation. It is very unlikely that partial dysfunction of vocal cords will have any effect on intubation and postoperative recovery. However, that is a question that only a board certified anesthesiologist could answer with more certainty. Hope this helps.

Hello @cw09 To be elegible for BBL your endocrinologist will have to determine wether you qualified or not. VCD is derive from the thyroidectomy and it can be improve with a speech therapist and not a problem for plastic surgery. You would need a written clearance from the MD treating your VCD condition. Plus any intubation could make this issue re occur, there is no way to predict. This is called an informed consent. Need photos. Fee in a case as yours $8,000.

I would suggest finding a board certified plastic surgeon who performs the BBL procedure with an anesthesiologist who uses either TIVA (IV sedation) or an LMA (Laryngeal mask anesthesia) which does not affect the vocal cords.

Yes you are still a candidate for a BBL. If you are a good candidate (less than 5L of fat) for a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL), the optimal outcomes are achieved with: 1) use of VASER liposuction to harvest the fat, 2) a closed looped system such as Puregraft to process the fat, and 3) strategic micro-packet transplant technique.
