Will this scar with a ridge flatten? (Photo)

Hello,That is just a mound of normal skin, and it is caused by the sutures under it pulling the skin together so much that it bulges up.  At twelve days your skin has not had time to make a scar. This mound will flatten with time, but you should be using tape therapy to mechanically support the skin and help minimize subsequent scar formation. Go to Amazon.com and get Hypafix tape and start using it soon. Best of luck!

You'll be really surprised how much that incision will settle over the next few months. Unfortunately it typically just takes time. Be sure to keep follow-up with your surgeon so he/she can follow along and make sure you're doing everything to get the best scar but usually these flatten out with time.

Thank you for sharing your question and photograph.  Ridging is not uncommon following an incision closure and tends to flatten very smooth over time.  This will improve as the swelling resolves and the tissues relax.  Hang in there!

Thank you for your question. Your scar will continue to change over the next year. Please speak to your plastic surgeon about your concerns. 

Surgeons each have their own technical methods of wound closure that can sometimes affect the way things look early.  I know it's hard, but try to be patient.  Much of what you are seeing should settle down and eventually flatten.  Keep in close contact with your surgeon.  They should be able to predict how things will progress and allay some of your concerns.  We use Embrace in our practice for scar management, but your physician will have their preferred method of treating early scars.Good luck!

Greetings, Your tummy tuck scar will continue to change as healing progresses. You really should discuss your concerns directly with your plastic surgeon.  12 days after surgery is quite early to envision your surgical result as your swelling resolves and your scar matures.Best Regards,
