How soon can I get in a pool or jacuzzi after a tummy tuck , lipo and BBL? I'll be 8 weeks tomorrow! (photo)

Congratulations on what appears to be an excellent TT, lipo and BBL.By 8 weeks, your wounds should be completely healed and water tight.  However, if there are any breaks in the skin, any areas that have any internal stitches sticking out (spitting), if you were my patient, I would recommend you postpone submersion in potentially dirty water until these areas are completely healed.  I also would recommend, once healing is complete, starting your water submersion trials in your bathtub with a thimble full of Clorox two or three times to be sure no skin breakdowns become evident in your tummy tuck scar, belly button scar or liposuction entry wounds.Once you are sure that there are no apparent breaks in the skin, I would suggest going on to swimming in a pool for no more than 10 minutes and then showering off to see how things look at the end of the day.  Only then do I suggest going into a jacuzzi which is a small area but may potentially contain a lot of bacteria, and staying only the jacuzzi only 5-10 minutes per time to be sure no redness shows up.  Once my patients pass all these tests, I feel comfortable allowing them to get into the Pacific Ocean.

Thank you for your question. After cosmetic surgery, it is important to avoid submersion in water for at least 6 weeks. By 8 weeks, most patients have been cleared from any activity limitations. However, it would be important for you to consult with your board-certified plastic surgeon regarding any continued restrictions for you. He or she is your best resource and is most familiar with your individual recovery. Good luck and safe travels!

Assuming that you are healing normally, 8 weeks should be adequate to allow submersion in a pool or hot tub. It would be appropriate to have your surgeon clear you first as there may be issues that are not apparent in the photos you have submitted.

In my practice i recommend patients to wait for 6-8 weeks prior to using pool. This can vary based on your board certified plastic surgeon's preference so it is best to run this by him or her. Dear SnowwhiteAt 8 weeks, your lower abdomen is still numb and its vascularity is not normal yet. If you are by the pool ..., getting in water is fine but you are at high risk for sunburn. Wear high spf sunblock and keep an eye on your lower abdomen as you won't feel the sunburn. 

All of the incisions should be well healed before contemplating hot tubs, jacuzzis, and pool use. can usually be done once the wounds are all healed... no scabs or drainage.  And at 8 weeks, you should already be there and you should get confirmation from your surgeon but nothing concerning is appreciated on your limited photos.

This is a good question. When it comes to exposing your incisions  to certain things (assuming no wound complications or breakdowns) it comes down to how well has the healing progressed and is the incision able to keep potential infectious agents at bay. Incisions heal water tight within a few days but are not really very strong. Within 2 weeks, this sealing of the skin is fragile and exposure to potentially harmful things should only be with caution. After 2 weeks, the skin becomes stronger and matures over a several month process. By six weeks it is in really good shape. In the case of a pool, assuming it is well maintained, the chlorine makes the water nearly sterile and very safe. So I tell my patients that after 2-3 weeks that is ok. However, in the case of Hot Tubs or natural bodies of water, the same can not be said and I advise waiting 6 weeks before jumping into those types of water. Since you are 8 weeks out and it looks like all is well with your incisions, you are reasonably safe to enjoy yourself.

Given that your incision lines have healed nicely, I think that you should be just fine in pools etc them completely.  having said that, I suggest my patients avoid water that is clearly  "contaminated" and use SPF protection on the incisions at this stage.  Enjoy your vacation!
