Not wanting to go surgery route yet at 42. Can you use Kybella on the jowls? Will Botox lift the sagging corners of my mouth? Procedures to correct these areas of concern?

Although Kybella is a recommended treatment for eliminating submental fat under the chin, it isn’t the best choice for reducing the early signs of jowl formation. However, injectable dermal fillers, placed strategically along the jawline, can restore definition to the lower face and reduce the appearance of sagging. Dermal fillers are also a good option for marionette lines. These wrinkles are usually due to collagen loss in the dermal structure. Fillers restore the necessary support to smooth and plump skin from the inside out. 
While injectable treatments are not surgery, they do require expertise and a gentle touch to produce a result that is both natural and beautiful. Make sure you work with a board-certified dermatologist and expert injector for the best possible outcome.

Kybella can aid in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat and ultimately destroying them. Kybella is an injectable treatment used to eliminate submental fat from underneath the chin. It does not address the skin laxity that leads to the formation of wrinkles and jowls. While it is difficult to advise you based on photos alone, it appears you would be a better candidate for dermal fillers that would restore some of your youthful volume along the jawline and reduce the appearance of marionette lines and other wrinkles in the lower face. Dermal fillers take just a few minutes to complete and the results are apparent right away. Depending on the filler used and the rate at which your body reabsorbs the hyaluronic acid, you should enjoy your results for many months. Choose an experienced, board-certified plastic surgeon to ensure the best possible result.

It takes a series of treatments to get good results with Kybella. Keep in mind, Kybella is good for dissolving the submental fat under the chin area while contouring the jawline and making the chin more defined, but a combination approach is needed to get the most improvement with non-invasive options. I recommend a combination approach with Thermage, Ultherapy, and Exilis.InMode FaceTite / AccuTite with VASER Neck Liposuction is the best option for contouring and tightening the chin, neck, and jawline area. While I do often treat the jowl fat using Kybella, in your case, I think your concerns can be addressed using hyaluronic acid based fillers. I would consider Restylane Defyne treatment to help with the down turned corners of mouth, marionette lines, and hollowing of prejowl sulcus.

in my opinion this is a highly inappropriate use of this medication. It’s not FDA approved in this area. In the clinical trials done for FDA approval patients experienced at 4% facial paralysis. That’s basically one out of 20 patients getting facial nerve paralysis when the medication is used correctly. The marginal Mandibular branch of the facial nerve goes right through the Jowel area. Injecting this medication in the area puts patients at high-risk for nerve damage. Are you willing to look like you had a stroke for several months up to a year?Kybella It’s a pretty unimpressive treatment option in comparison to liposuction which can easily be done through a 2 mm incision as an office-based procedure with much faster recovery, consistent results and overall pricing that’s comparable. Liposuction rarely requires revisions and is always done as a single session.  Kybella Generally requires more than one treatment. The overall satisfaction is far better with liposuction though it is Not done in the Jowl  area by all providers because it also has a risk of facial nerve paralysis.take a look at the included link confirming the rate of facial nerve paralysis reported by Allergan, the company that sells this product.I suggest having a few in person consultations with board-certified plastic surgeons or facial plastic surgeons who have a thorough understanding of facial anatomy and are properly trained in all treatment options.Best, Mats  Hagstrom MD

botox will not lift the corners of the mouth. The pictures don't show jowls and there doesnt seem to be a lit to treat. You can fill the indent of the lateral chin with filler which straightens out the jawline and has the visual effect of making jowls go away
