Why isn't Voluma dissolving?

It takes a significant amount of vitrase to reverse voluma and it often takes RF treatment to help improve the results. I suggest you see an expert.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Thank you for your question and I am sorry that your results have not been what you anticipated.  Voluma is comprised of a thick hyaluronic acid that may take several sessions of appropriate hyaluronidase dosing to dissolve.  I would inquire as to the amount of hyaluronidase injected and adjust this to start the dissolution process, it often takes 50-100 units to treat.  Best wishes.

Dissolving Voluma is not as easy as injecting it as you are unfortunately finding out. It may take quite a few treatments. Make certain to see someone with a lot of experience. If you aren't getting great results with your current injector, you may want to seek a second opinion. 

If they were not skilled in placement of the Voluma, they might not be doing the hyaluronidase correctly. I use Hylenex which is slightly more expensive than the other commercially available products but it is recombinant human enzyme. It they are getting from a compounding pharmacy, I've seen articles state that the strength of these is significantly less. Time to seek another opinion I think. Also, they might not be injecting enough units.

Hello, and thanks for your question. It is possible that you are not having enough hyaluronidase injected to dissolve the Voluma. You should be having around 100 units injected to dissolve the product, possibly more, depending on how much was used. Best of luck, Dr. Frucht.  

Thank you for your questionIts hard to imagine that the Voluma isn't responding the the hyaluronidase. Although Voluma is a thick form of HA it should still respond and often within 24 hours. My concern might be if another product was used (non HA) or the dose of the enzyme is inadequate or perhaps the enzyme itself is inactive. I have seen 20units, a very small dose, act very effectively and quicklyI would follow up with your doctor and be sure Voluma was used and if so that the hyaluronidase being injected has not expired and is being dosed adequatelyBest of LuckDrG
