Posting on this website is probably not the correct way to find the right provider for your needs. Ultimately, you have to make the decision. In my opinion, the best way to find the right provider is to have a number of consultations. The more consultations you have the more likely you are to find the better provider for your needs. At this point, you’re probably somewhat familiar with the basic terminology and what involved with breast augmentation surgery. When consulting for second opinion or revision procedures, patients should always come prepared, bringing with them a complete set of proper before and after pictures of all previous operations and copies of each of the previous operative reports. If you don’t have these then request them from your previous provider or providers. After that, make a list of plastic surgeons in your community who seem to do a lot of breast surgery. Next schedule in person consultations with each of the providers. There’s no shortcut here. I don’t believe patients can adequately choose providers from their cell phone or computer. During each consultation, ask each provider to open up their portfolio and show you their entire collection of before, and after pictures of previous patients with similar breast characteristics who are in the same situation. This will tell you a lot about each provider. Highly experienced surgeons should have more before and after pictures than you have time to look at. If they don’t have examples of previous patients who needed the same procedure or had the same problem, then maybe you’re not with the right surgeon. There’s no one who specializes in revision surgery. Experience in revisions is directly proportionate to how much surgery is done as primary procedures. Plastic surgeons who have a lot of breast surgery experience will have a lot of breast revision surgery experience as well. I suppose surgeons don’t get it right the first time May have more experience doing revisions than those who do quality primary procedures. If you don’t know where to start, then consider looking up who does most of the breast cancer reconstruction in your community and consult with those providers. You should make sure that plastic surgeons have at least one decade of breast surgery experience or are at least not right out of residency. Olo medley the decision has to be yours. There’s no correct number of consultations needed to find the right provider. The more consultations you scheduled the more likely you are to find the better provider for your needs. In my opinion, it’s fair for plastic surgeons to charge for second opinion consultations. Paying for a number of consultations is investment in your long-term quality outcome. It’s money well spent in my opinion. One thing to consider when consulting with providers is their ability to clearly understand the underlying primary problem and their ability to explain what the problem is and how they’re going to correct it. A successful operation needs to start with a clear understanding of what the problem is.The more specific the understanding the better. Good luck, Mats Hagstrom MD
