it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. Generally speaking, if the skin is the issue then skin excision is the solution and if the fat is the cause of this, then liposuction is the solution. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations.

Liposuction may be able to make this area less noticeable. However, the adhesion below the ribs will always be there unless surgically released. This would likely best be done during an abdominoplasty to undermine this skin. A reverse abdominoplasty can also be done, however the scar is less favorable.

Very likely that role is skin in nature. Liposuction should be an initial treatment. Addition of skin fixation within the inframammary fold (like upper abdominoplasty?) should be considered as well. Good luck.

An examination is needed to determine if the area that concerns you is excess skin or fat. If it is fat, liposuction should improve it. J-Plasma could be added if there is minor skin laxity. If it is primarily excess skin and not fat, then excision would be the recommendation to improve the contour.

It is interesting that you ask this because I have had several women with a similar issue recently. First of all, this is not rib flare. Your roll extends all the way across the midline. There are no ribs there. I would take an in-person evaluation with a board-certified plastic surgeon, but I would guess this is primarily skin and not fat. You would be an excellent candidate for a reverse abdominoplasty. This is where the incision is made along the fold underneath the breasts, the skin is elevated off the underlying muscle down to the belly button, and pulled up, excess skin removed and closed. It directly attacks this roll. However, the scar is noticeable. It is a definite trade-off, because the scar goes across the midline, and therefore, would be noticeable in low cut clothing. I did one recently and had an excellent result, and the patient is thrilled.
