I suffer with hormone imbalances (mild PCOS) and am interested in liposuction. Will the fat grow back even if I maintain weight? I am a healthy weight (BMI 23.3) and usually lower, but I just cannot shift fat from my lower belly no matter what. My triceps also hold onto fat which I don’t like. Am I a good candidate? Will it grow back? I live a very active and healthy life, so lifestyle is no issue.

Answer: Liposuction Fat removed by liposuction is permanent. That does not mean that you cannot gain weight, because you can. It also does not prevent you from losing more weight. Liposuction often fuels patients' desire to eat healthier and keep a regular exercise routine in order to maintain their results. From the limited photos it does appear that you are a candidate. The next step is to schedule a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon near you for a consultation.

Answer: Fat Once you reach around 14 years old age, your body typically does not produce any new fat cells. The fat cells removed with liposuction do not grow back. However, the residual fat cells can enlarge with weight gain up to 200% their original size. With weight gain, most people are still not as fat in the areas treated. Also, liposuction does not remove internal fat.
