I lost about 116 lbs over the past year. I had a tummy tuck and breast lift in may 2015. Now I opted to get impants to make my breast fuller. I went from a small B and added 450ccs each breast. Im not able to determine my size now as they are swollen but I know they will settle and be exaclty the size I want. I am sore because this is 1 day post op. My doctor was amazing, he did my Tummy tuck, lift and implants. I am very happy I did this! Updated on 29 Nov 2015: So I had my Aug 5 days ago and the soreness is really getting better. My implants are actually starting to settle alittle bit which is nice. Not sure if I mentioned prior but I had gotten Mentor 450cc silicone textured high profile implants under the muscle. I am very happy that they are beginning to feel more not am in my body. I stopped taking pain meds And I use extra strength Tylenol instead because I don't like being groggy. I still can't determine a specific size yet so I'm just going to keep wearing a sports bra. I did notice that one implant started dropping a little more than the other which is fine, you can't tell too much but I noticed. I'm still happy with my outcome. Updated on 6 Dec 2015: I will be 3 weeks post BA op in a couple days. I am still very happy with my implants. They are starting to settle some and they are looking great. I would like to keep the fullness on top so I'll use a lifting support sports bra. I hope they don't drop tom much. Updated on 17 Feb 2016: Very happy
I knew in the fifth grade that I would inherit the infamous "Boettcher Boobs". As a teen, they attracted some welcome attention but after giving birth to three daughters who were breastfed for a total of five years, their 36G size became far more of a burden than an asset. Like many of you, I too developed deep grooves in my shoulders and constant pain in my back and neck. And clothes shopping??...let's just say I'd rather scrub toilets than search for clothes that actually fit and flattered (which seldom happened.) My insurance company wasn't as convinced as me (and my surgeon) that a reduction was the answer. In 2003, I consumed more health care resources with an MRI, multiple visits for PT, consults, and assorted meds to support their denial than would have been expended had they approved in the first place! At the urging of a co-worker, I re-visited the idea of a reduction in the fall of 2011 and this time, the insurance company (a different one) approved surgery within 5 minutes of receiving the work-up from my surgeon! So now I am ten days from surgery and counting the seconds! Multiple people have told me that they have never spoken with a woman who regretted her decision to have a breast reduction. The nervous but excited energy is beginning to build. I am certain that I'll have all of my spring cleaning done before surgery! This weekend I'll buy the bra recommended by my surgeon (a sports bar with a zipper front closure) and drool a bit as I see the wide variety of bras from which I'll soon be able to choose! My surgeon is absolutely wonderful. He spent at least an hour reviewing in detail what I should expect with both me and my daughter. A co-worker shared her photos of her journey..so I think I'm prepared for the evolution from pre-op to immediate post-op to finally achieving a perky and average shape several months out. So fellow members of the "I was never in the Itty Bitty [RS bleep] Committee as a Teen" club, I'll update you as the big day grows nearer. Right now I'm too excited to be nervous. Let's roll!! Updated on 18 Jan 2012: Down to five days!! The new bra is hanging in my bedroom (such a thing of beauty that will actually fit!) Still in warp speed mode trying to get everything done before surgery. I'll have plenty of rest time post-op, right? I know one thing..I was instructed to eliminate any meds with anticoagulation properties (like Advil) two weeks before surgery. Secretly I think it is so your pain level is such that you won't back out! Tylenol is great for most headaches, but doesn't do much for the back pain that I have. I'd score my "nervousness" level at a 2/10..I just haven't made time to think too much about it yet!
I don't think I can answer that without feeling your arm, feeling the thickness of the fatty tissue, feeling the elasticity of the skin. Feeling the recoil of the skin when I pull on it. It becomes a judgment call. And even as experienced plastic surgeons, we occasionally mis-read the tissues. I doubt a patient could determine, much less from photos. I think you need to see a plastic surgeon experienced in this surgery, and a one-on-one consultation. Good luck!
My advice would be not to rush into trying to get rid of the fat in the lower face. I have been in practice over 30 years. One of the signs of youth is fat in the face. Actually, one of the areas being pursued in the world of plastic surgery is fat grafting into the face to attain the appearance of youth. In residency, we did some liposuction of the face. We quickly quit doing that. It made the face look skeletonized and aged. Like an old person's face. There are people out there who will gladly treat your fat, either with surgery, or Kybella, or other options. Please don't rush into that. What part of your face I see looks very attractive. I know, all you see is the bulging. I see youthful cheeks!! Look at any child. They have full cheeks. So many older patients I see wish they had the fullness back into their cheeks. Good luck to you!!
As I explain to my patients, your body knows how much fat it has onboard. If a surgeon "steals" that fat away, either through liposuction or excision, your body will replace it. And it will place it wherever your fat cells live. Hence, after liposuction, other areas of fat may become bigger. However, if you lose, for example 10#, and you change your diet and/or exercise to maintain that new weight, your body will not put that fat back on. So, if you resume your usual diet and/or exercise as at your original weight, your body will put that fat back on. If you adjust your diet / exercise to your new weight, it should maintain. Sounds like you are doing great!
Liposuction is never perfect. It will always have a certain degree of lumps or irregularities. I tell my patients the worst thing they can do after liposuction is to put on weight. Those irregularities are irregular contours of fat. As you gain weight, fat cells enlarge. Small lumps or ridges can become larger or more visible lumps or ridges. It can always be re-liposuctioned. But those are the facts that we deal with. One of the reasons liposuction is one of the most often repeated surgeries. Good luck
I would encourage you to check with your surgeon. Implants this early can shift a bit. Smooth implants can move quite a bit, and many times have to be held in position with elastic bands to help them stabilize. Textured implants will shift a bit. Early on, they can also have a small amount of fluid around them which can lead to some shift as well. Check with your surgeon. I usually encourage my patients to keep the implants pushed up and in to minimize muscle tension and gravity wanting to pull implants to the side and down. Good luck to you!!
