I got a chin implant removed 6 months ago, I only had the implant for a year, but my mandible muscles are causing tension.I got a rhinoplasty surgery about a year ago, the surgeon recommended getting a chin implant due to my facial structure. A few months after, I ended up getting so many issues. My mouth hurt, I couldn't smile, the implant irritated my skin, and I got a lot of pimples on my chin. I had to find another doctor to remove it. However, my chin isn't the same. I have a small visible pocket, and when I speak, I can feel my muscles causing tension. What can I do to make my chin feel better?
Answer: Mandible muscles causing tension after chin implant removal I'm sorry to hear about the discomfort and issues you've experienced with your chin implant. It's crucial to schedule a follow-up appointment with the surgeon who removed your chin implant. They can assess your current situation, evaluate the healing process, and provide specific guidance based on your unique circumstances. It may also be helpful to consult with a physical therapist or a specialist who can provide exercises or techniques to alleviate tension and promote muscle relaxation. They can assess your muscle function and provide targeted guidance. Gentle facial massage techniques, performed by a trained professional or under their guidance, may help relieve muscle tension and improve circulation in the area. However, it's important to consult with a professional to ensure the massage is appropriate for your specific situation. It's important to allow your body sufficient time to heal after the removal of the chin implant. The tissues need time to recover and adjust. Sometimes, residual swelling or tension can persist for several months. However, if you have concerns or if the symptoms worsen, it's crucial to consult with a healthcare professional. If you're still experiencing significant discomfort or dissatisfaction after the removal of the chin implant, it may be beneficial to seek a second opinion from another qualified surgeon. They can evaluate your situation, provide an alternative perspective, and offer potential solutions to address your concerns. I hope this helps, best of luck !

Answer: Typically, somebody's chin appearance returns to normal after a chin implant is removed. In general, when somebody is having issues like you had with a chin implant in place, once the implant is removed, things should go back to normal. Since this has not been the case, I would suggest getting a second opinion from another reputable specialist. I hope this helps. Sincerely, Dr Joseph

Answer: Muscle Tension Hello and thank you for your question. Without a photograph or in person examination, it is difficult to give you advice on the management of your concern. Generally speaking, massage can sometimes help to alleviate any tightness around surgical sites. Botox could also be implemented if there is indeed muscle tension. An in person consultation with a board certified facial plastic surgeon may be of benefit to you.

Answer: Fixable 1. You need to be seen as no photos were included2. Most likely, there is what we call a capsule that formed around the old implant. You can consider having the surgeon go back and take it out - this is a simple procedure. What is a Capsule? It is a layer that our body forms around any implant as a reaction and to keep the implant in place and is easy to remove.

Answer: Muscle pain following chin implant removal You don’t say what kind of implant was used or the approach. It is unusual to have any muscle issues with a chin implant, especially a Porex/Medpore type. Botox may take the strain off the muscles until you feel better. Be sure to discuss with your surgeon. All the Best, Dr. J
