What should I do for my chin? (Photo)

Question

I [27M] don't like my chin (see the photos attached). I would like to know if I am a good candidate for a genioplasty or if another procedure would be more suitable for my case. I would also like to have a professional opinion about whether my chin is weak. Thank you very much.

Based on your pictures, it looks like you have a recessed chin. You would be an excellent candidate for a chin augmentation.

You are a good candidate for a genioplasty. Your chin is a bit short and definitely recessed. By moving it forward and down (mostly forward; you have decent height from the front), it would bring balance to your profile while elongating your jawline. Yes, your chin does not project enough in the profile photo and therefore you would benefit from a chin implant of genioplasty. With longer advancements, I prefer the genioplasty procedure. We perform both procedures in the office with intravenous anesthesia. Your chin may be a little short as well and this can also be corrected with a genioplasty.

You have a recessive chin due to the fact that your mandible bone never grew far enough forward. If your teeth are significantly out of alignment, then you can consider a genioplasty performed by an oral surgeon under general anesthesia at a hospital setting with an overnight stay at the hospital. If you're looking for a simple cosmetic improvement, then consider placement of a Chin implant to augment your chin forward for better facial balance, and proportions. Chin implants can be placed under local anesthesia through a small incision underneath the chin, which takes about 30 minutes in the office setting..
