Warm mist humidifier 2 weeks post op to treat dryness in my nose and bloody noses?

Question

So I've always been prone to bloody noses, even before my rhinoplasty/septoplasty. At 1 week after rhinoplasty I needed my nose cauterized due to a bloody nose that wouldn't stop. At 2 weeks out he cauterized the front of my nose with silver nitrate. Now I'm just over 2 weeks out and I can see the area is still raw when the blackness from the nitrate wears off. Some posts say humidifier and some say "cool mist" humidifier but I only have warm mist. Is that okay?

Just get some saline spray and use it regularly throughout the day. Vaseline in the nostrils at night.

Hello. This seems to be a reasonable idea if everything you expressed is correct. I would first run it by your rhinoplasty surgeon however, prior to doing anything to your nose.

A warm mist humidifier should work.  I would also recommend using nasal saline spray or Nasogel (a thicker form of saline that coats better) several times per day, and especially at night.Good luck!

In addition to saline nasal spray a humidifier is very helpful to reduce dryness and nosebleeds. Warm is fine, though many feel the cold air humidifier is safer around children and pets.

Thanks for your question. The inside of the nose wants to be like a tropical rain forest- warm and moist all the time. Humidified air at night, saline spray through the day, and vaseline to your nostrils will help. But be sure to run it by your surgeon too.

A bloody nose can be related to multiple problems such as inflammation and, as you were indicating, nasal dryness. Any kind of humidifier can help at night and nasal saline spray can help during the day.
