Traveling to a surgeon for lip lift. How long to take off work and stay in new city?

When I do routine lip lifts, patients usually leave the same day or the next day.  The skin suture I use is removed by the patient at two weeks.  I do not recommend external excisions such as a corner lift because the scar can be unattractive.  Best Wishes,Gary Horndeski, M.D.

I recommend asking this question to the surgeons that you consult with prior to your travels, as we each have our own preferences. In general, it is usually safe to fly back the following day. Ask whether dissolvable or non-dissolvable sutures are being used. Is non-dissolvable sutures are used and you fly home the next day you must have someone in your area who can remove the sutures. Our out of town patients usually leave the next day. I use dissolvable sutures for patients that can't return for follow-up and I see no difference in the overall results. You can expect significant swelling for 3 days. Pain and bruising are not a hallmark of this procedure. Good luck
