Hi, I requested 550cc saline implants. I was very specific about the look I was trying to achieve. However after my surgery my I could see right away that they were too small. My PS then told me he gave me 500cc implants because 550ccs looked stupid. Shouldn't that be my call? Barring any medical reason for the decrease, I feel that he should have given me what I requested. It was truly insulting and I don't feel that I should have to pay to have them redone.
Answer: Should I have to pay for a breast implant revision? I am sorry to hear about your disappointment with the results of the breast surgery. Policy regarding coverage of expenses for revisionary surgery will vary from office to office and probably on a case-by-case basis as well. Costs of revisionary surgery may range from zero, to anesthesia/surgery center fees, to discounted surgeon's fees. Generally, successful plastic surgeons rely on positive word-of-mouth and will work hard to maintain satisfied patients. Also, I generally speaking, I suggest patients communicate their concerns in a calm and constructive fashion; this form communication tends to be much more effective than confrontational communication. Best wishes; hopefully through courteous/respectful communication you and your plastic surgeon will be able to work out a plan to achieve your goals. Best wishes.

Answer: 500 vs 550 is not a signficiant difference I'm sorry to hear about your disappointment with the outcome of the surgery. If its of any consolation, I truly feel that the difference between a 550 and 500 is negligible and that you would barely notice the difference. If a patient were to come to me with a request to increase from 500 to 550, I would honestly tell them that, if that were the only reason, it would not be worth the effort and expense. However, I do understand that you feel you did not get what you paid for. In these instances, I would refer to any financial policies established by the practice. The surgeon will want to work with you to your satisfaction but will incur additional fees that need to be discussed. This may include fees for implants and anesthesia which cannot be necessarily covered by the surgeon.

Answer: Should I have to pay for a breast implant revision? Thank you for your question, and I am sorry for your frustration and disappointment with your results. This is a conversation best had with your operative surgeon, as there may have been medical/surgical reasons to explain the change to a smaller implant at the time of surgery. Unfortunately only your surgeon will be able to answer this. Your physician wants you to be happy, but must also make sure that you are safe. I would voice your concerns with him/her so that the two of you can come up with a plan to have you satisfied.

Answer: Should I have to pay for a breast implant revision? This is hard to answer as sometimes a surgeon's judgement may change the surgical plan. However, most plastic surgeons are willing to work with their patients to find a solution. It may be best to have a talk with your surgeon to better understand why that was done and how to get you to where you want to be (if that is possible with a larger implant). Good Luck.
