I sent my lab results to my Doctir in Cali Colombia showing My hemoglobin is at 11. Is it Is too low to have a TT, bbl, breast lift with implants and laser lipo on entire back & sides in Cali Colombia?
Answer: Hgb Too Low? I think that Hgb warrants further workup to determine why you are anemic, and take steps to correct it prior to such a big surgery. I would also question why you are having your surgery in Columbia as opposed to somewhere more local. Are you prepared to deal with a possible complication (medically and financially) when you return to the US?

Answer: Lab results Your surgeon will review your lab results with you and determine if it is safe for you to proceed with surgery. If a lab value is in doubt sometimes a repeat test will be performed to ensure the value wasn't in error.

Answer: Hemoglobin is at 11. Is it too low? Sorry, but online consultants will not be of much specific help to you here. Much will depend on the cause of the anemia, how much blood loss that will be with your operations, and who is doing the surgery (anesthesia provider, surgery facility…). There's much to be concerned about; make your decisions carefully.

Answer: Low hemoglobin I have a few concerns regarding your situation:1) surgery abroad. The key to a good outcome is being able to closely follow up with your plastic surgeon until you have recovered safely. You are having multiple procedures, which puts you at a slightly higher risk of certain complications from surgery. Having surgery abroad with all the procedures you are contemplating is simply not safe.2) Low hemoglobin. Unless there is a good explanation for this that may require a workup by your PCP, you should not undergo the procedure. If your hemoglobin is low to begin with it may become dangerously low with all of your procedures. Compounding this situation in a foreign country will likely make matters worse. In summary, I STRONGLY recommend you that you have your procedure locally. There are many excellent board certified plastic surgeons in Chicago. I am sure it is cheaper to have your procedure in Colombia, but as you are aware, cheaper is not necessarily better or safer, especially when you are considering a surgical procedure.
