Had a breast augmentation one month ago and Just found out I'm pregnant. Will my baby be damaged?

While many of the medications currently used are safe during pregnancy, there are special concerns during the first 8 weeks. I would get a copy of your medical records to review with your gynecologist who can then make suggestions following assessment of your child's gestational age and the time of exposure.

The pregnancy tests that are utilized today, from the home tests to lab tests at a surgicenter /hospital, are very sensitive.  If they tested you prior to surgery and you were negative, it is a good chance that it either just happened or actually happened post surgery.  Either way, undergoing anesthesia during pregnancy is something that can occur for a number of different reasons, and is generally recognized as an acceptable risk when needed.  As long as your OB/Gyn feels like everything is progressing normally, I would not worry.

While I can tell you that the medications used for anesthesia these days are much safer than in the old days, you should discuss this with your Ob/Gyn. I recommend getting a list of the medications you received during your breast augmentation before meeting with your Obstetrician. I am quite sure what he or she tells you will put your mind at ease!

Both your anxiety and your desire to receive online reassurance are understandable but online consultants will not be your best resource. Ultimately, your OB/GYN will be your best resource when it comes to meaningful assessment, advise, and (hopefully)  reassurance. Best wishes.

The best person to discuss this situation with is your OB. Try to stay calm and avoid any other medications and see what the OB has to say.

A more knowledgeable answer will come from your OB physician.  What I am familiar with is the fact the none of the commonly used anesthetic agents have been shown to cause an increase in birth defects. A phone call to your OB office can probably offer more reassurance while you are awaiting your appointment.All the best
