Thank you for the question. The best way to prepare yourself is to be aware about the concerns regarding your nose and what changes you would like. It is best to consult with a surgeon who is an expert in rhinoplasty who performs computer imaging in the office so that you are able to see and discuss the changes more objectively. Good luck to you.
Thank you for your question. You should come to the consultation prepared to discuss your medical history. This will include information about any medical conditions you may have, medical treatments you have received, previous surgeries including repair of nasal injuries, and medications that you currently take. Your plastic surgeon may also ask whether you have difficulty breathing through your nose, suffer from allergies that may cause nasal stuffiness, or are a chronic user of nasal spray. It is important for you to provide complete information. In evaluating you for rhinoplasty, your plastic surgeon will conduct a routine and painless examination of your internal nasal structures. Your skin quality as well as the size and shape of your nose and its relationship to your other facial features will be carefully studied. In some instances, your plastic surgeon may recommend surgery of your chin, making it either more or less prominent, to improve facial balance. This procedure can be done at the same time as your rhinoplasty. Best of luck!Dhaval M. Patel Double board certifiedPlastic surgeonHoffman EstatesBarringtonOakbrook Chicago

See the "Web reference" link, just below my response here. It contains detailed information (just below the map) on what to do at a consultation, and how to determine whether the surgeon you are interviewing is good enough to operate on your nose.Remember, he's not the boss. You're the boss. You're interviewing him, to see whether you will hire him!
Hello,In terms of aesthetic goals, digital imaging of your facial photos will help you decide and communicate what you like to your surgeon. Look for a ABPS certified/ASAPS member surgeon, or a ABO certified/AAFPRS member surgeon.Best of luck!

Hi melair,Thanks for the question. I think that being prepared for the consultaiton is a great way to ensure that you get the most out of the experience. Be sure to know the specifics about what you don't like about your nose and try to educate yourself a little bit about rhinoplasty. A great resource is this website. Realself is a great educational resource for patients. Good luck!
Hi there. Great question - you will get much more out of the consultation if you are prepared. I think the first thing is to be clear about what changes you are hoping for - what part of your nose you are unhappy with and in what order (tip, side profile, crookedness, size etc.). It is often helpful to bring photos of noses you find desirable or are aiming for ('goal photos') - whilst no rhinoplasty surgeon is in the business of replicating celebrity noses, it serves as a useful guide to know what to aim for. It can be difficult articulating your goals as the terminology is often confusing. The second thing is to have a careful think about how surgery may impact your life and therefore be clear which questions you need to ask relating to recovery/ time off work etc. Finally, be confident in your selected surgeon - ask to see a portfolio of rhinoplasty photos, ask how many procedures he/ she performs in a given month etc. to make sure this is a routine part of their practice and therefore an area they have genuine expertise in. Good Luck!
Thanks for the question !My recommendation for you is to send your photos to us to give you the advice you need.Kind regards,Dr. Emmanuel Mallol.-
Assuming you are of legal age- I would review online all information concerning Rhinoplasty. Look for Surgeon with years of experience, big gallery with before and after photos. Check with American Board of Plastic Surgery to make sure your Surgeon is Board Certified. Make a list of the areas you want improved and bring some photos of noses you like.
Need lots more information! Swelling over the anterior nasal spine will cause over projection of the tip, a columellar strut can over project the tip, overresection of the dorsum can give the appearance of an overprojected tip, and the list goes on. Give this time, follow your surgeons re...
Your nose is asymmetrical or crooked. If the accident occurred recently see another surgeon ASAP because some treatments are easier within the first two weeks. If this is an old injury consult with an experienced rhinoplasty surgeon for an evaluation and discussion of alternative treatments.
Dear m, I must say it is a bit of an unusual incision unless this is just the camera angle. With that said, I remove a few stitches on day three and all stitches are removed before the seventh day in order for the incision to heal properly, not leave any line of demarcation, or track marks. I...
