My nose was perfectly straight before my accident and now it is crooked I went to the doctors and they said I was fine but it still looks crooked to me A I crazy or is it crooked Thank you
Answer: Nasal trauma Thanks for sharing. Based simply on the photos it is difficult to tell if there is any distortion to your nose. It is possible that you fractured your nasal bone. Just as possible, though, is that you may just have some swelling of your nose that is distorting your normal appearance. How long ago did you hit your nose? If this occurred within the last couple weeks, I would give more time to allow possible swelling to recede. Good luck!

Answer: Crooked nose Hi there, I am sorry to hear about the trauma. Thank you for sharing your photos. I do think your nose is slightly crooked to the left side of your face (towards the door in the photos). It is a little bit hard with the light and angle for me to tell if the nose was slightly crooked before. I recommend you consult with a rhinoplasty surgeon. The first two weeks after breaking your nose, we can often straighten it with a reduction. A reduction means we move the bones into their prior position (usually without any incisions). After those two weeks, the nose is partially healed in the crooked position and I usually recommend waiting 3 months for the nose to be stable and then doing a septorhinoplasty to straighten the nose. The reason to wait is to make sure the nose is sufficiently healed that when you operate the pieces of the nose are stable and I can better reshape them.hope this helps! Good luck

Answer: Treatment for nasal trauma and a crooked nose Any time there is trauma to the nose it is a good idea to seek out an ENT/facial plastic surgeon to evaluate the internal and external portion of the nose to document the existence of any fractures with an examination, and or x-rays. Trauma to the nose can cause non-displaced fracture which is usually left alone and heals straight. Treatment for a displaced nasal fracture is performed of osteotomies to straighten the nasal bones, and a cartilaginous spreader graft placed on the concave side in the midportion of the nose. It's also important to wait a few weeks to see once the swelling goes down how deviated the nose really is. Rhinoplasty for the crooked nose is a difficult endeavor, so choose your surgeon very wisely based on extensive experience with the procedure. Answer: Crooked nose after trauma Thanks for your question. Sorry to hear about your accident! The nose is the most frequently fractured part of the body and a lot of the time these kind of injuries go unnoticed. It's a little difficult to tell just from these pictures; sometimes new crookedness comes from a deviated septum. Your nasal bones can be fine, but if your septum is off it will make your nose go off to one side or another. It also depends on how long it's been since your injury, since swelling can disguise subtle things. I'd visit with a facial plastic surgeon to get an idea of what your options are. For more on nasal fractures, check out my blog post. Good luck!

Answer: Crooked Nose? after Trauma Your nose is asymmetrical or crooked. If the accident occurred recently see another surgeon ASAP because some treatments are easier within the first two weeks. If this is an old injury consult with an experienced rhinoplasty surgeon for an evaluation and discussion of alternative treatments.
